Philadelphia Phillies @ Miami Marlins – 6:40PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Philadelphia Phillies will be looking to use the momentum from their victory over the Miami Marlins on Monday night to pick up a second consecutive victory over Miami here on Tuesday. After entering the 2023 Major League Baseball season with plenty of expectations. They have been treading water throughout the year and they are in danger of missing out on the postseason at the moment. After an incredible world baseball classic performance people were hyping Trea Turner up to win the National League MVP award, but he has been nowhere close to spectacular this season, and that is a lot of the reasons for the Phillies lack of success. However, grabbing another victory in the second game of the series against the Marlins could allow them to gain some momentum and turn things around heading into the final two months of the year.

The Miami Marlins have been one of the more surprising teams in baseball this season, and they will be looking to finish strong down the stretch and sneak their way into the playoffs after an impressive start to the year. Miami will be looking to bounce back after they lost the opening game of the series to Philadelphia on Monday night by a couple of runs. They will need to be more productive at the plate, and find a way to produce more runs after only putting up two runs in Monday night’s loss to Philadelphia. I expect this game to be close and competitive throughout, but in the end, I have the Miami Marlins picking up the victory over the Philadelphia Phillies here on Tuesday to even up this series.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Miami Marlins (-145)

Detroit Tigers @ Pittsburgh Pirates – 7:05PM ET

Tony Battalio

It has been a rough year for the Detroit Tigers, but they come into this three-game interleague series against the Pittsburgh Pirates with an opportunity to get themselves some victories. Despite having a less than impressive season up until this point, they are still very much in contention to win the American League Central if they can get things turned around in time. As both Minnesota and Cleveland have been treading water throughout the year, which leaves the door open for Detroit, and potentially even Chicago if they can get really white hot coming down the final stretch of the season. As Detroit comes into this game only a handful of games out of first place at the moment.

It was a near historic start to the season for the Pittsburgh Pirates but things collapsed almost as fast as they started once they reached summer. As they picked up 22 victories in their first 30 games of the season and ever since then they have been well under .500 and slowly making their way back down the standings in the National League Central division. They come into this three-game interleague series of an opportunity to rack up some victories against another less than impressive team as the calendar turns to August and the final two months of the season arrive. However, I don’t see that happening as I have the Detroit Tigers grabbing the victory in the opening game of this series on Tuesday night.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Detroit Tigers (+100)

Baltimore Orioles @ Toronto Blue Jays – 7:07PM ET

Tony Battalio

Baltimore held on in the opening game of their series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night but it sure wasn’t easy as the winning run came to the plate for Toronto in the bottom of the ninth inning. Now the Orioles will be looking to pick up their second consecutive victory over the Blue Jays here on Tuesday night as they look to extend their lead within the American League East division. With the victory on Monday night over the Blue Jays, Baltimore picked up their 65th victory of the season, which has them positioned as the team with the best record in the American League this year. Kyle Gibson had a fantastic performance on the mound, and the lineup put up four runs, and they will be looking to replicate that performance here on Tuesday as well.

The Toronto Blue Jays will be looking to bounce back after their loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night. Toronto had opportunities to win the game but in the end they could not capitalize and they will need to find a way to do that here on Tuesday night if they want to avoid losing a second consecutive game to their divisional rivals. They will also need to gain back the game that they lost with their defeat on Monday night as they look to chase down Baltimore for the top spot in the American League East division as well. That is exactly what I expect, as I look for the Toronto Blue Jays to bounce back in a big way, and even up the series at home against the Orioles.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Toronto Blue Jays (-125)

Cincinnati Reds @ Chicago Cubs – 8:05PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Cincinnati Reds have had a surprising season and it seems as if their rebuild it’s only another year or two away from coming to an end. They have a roster that is loaded with a ton of young talent in this year’s likely National League rookie of the year award winner in, Elly De La Cruz. He has been crushing the baseball since being caught up from AAA a couple of months ago and he has absolutely turned around the trajectory of the Cincinnati Reds season. They seem to be on a collision course for the playoffs if they can hold out and remain healthy and consistent throughout the next two months. However, they will have their hands full going against a solid pitching staff from Chicago in this one on Tuesday night.

It has been up and down here for the Chicago Cubs but if they can get things together, they still have an opportunity to make a playoff push at the end of the regular season. They have plenty of solid talent on the roster, but they have been way too inconsistent throughout the season to pose any type of threat in the National League Central division at the moment. They come into this game sitting in third place of the division and they are only a small handful of games behind the Milwaukee Brewers at the moment. Taking this series from the Cincinnati Reds would be a big step forward and making a playoff push and I expect Chicago to grab the victory here on Tuesday night over Cincinnati.

Chicago Cubs (-160)

Chicago White Sox @ Texas Rangers – 8:05PM ET

Tony Battalio

It has been a rough season for the Chicago White Sox and they will be looking to turn things around as they open up this three-game series with the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night. They are coming off of a series where they split for games down the middle with their American League Central division rivals, the Cleveland Guardians after they were unable to take three out of four games with a strong performance from Cleveland on Sunday. They had plenty of expectations coming into the season, but I didn’t quite live up to those expectations and now they find themselves in essentially purgatory as they are nearly 20 games below .500 while playing in the worst division and the league.

The opposite can be said for the Texas Rangers, because after years of rebuilding their roster, they have become one of the best teams in the American League this season. They continue to add to their roster as they recently traded for former Cy Young Award winner, Max Scherzer to bolster their already impressive starting rotation. They will be looking to pick up a victory in the opening game of the series against the Chicago White Sox on Monday night at home and ironically enough, they will be rooting for Cleveland to rack up some victories against the Houston Astros so Texas can extend their lead within the American League West division. I expect Texas to do their part of the bargain and for them to pick up a comfortable victory over the White Sox here on Tuesday night.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Texas Rangers -1.5 (-115)
