Arizona Diamondbacks @ Chicago White Sox – 2:10PM ET

The Arizona Diamondbacks come into this game in a must win situation on Thursday afternoon on the road in Chicago. They will need to pick up a victory over the White Sox if they want to remain in the top three of the National League wildcard race heading into the final weekend of the regular season. Arizona has had a solid season and they will be looking to cap off the regular season with a playoff appearance, but they will have to finish the job throughout the next four days if they want to clinch a spot in the National League wildcard race. Arizona has built up a two game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the Miami Marlins for the third wildcard spot and with a victory in this game combined with a Cubs and Marlins loss, Arizona would clinch a spot in the postseason.

The Chicago White Sox have absolutely nothing left to play for the season after coming into the year with expectations of winning the American League Central division. They have been one of the worst teams in baseball this season, and after their moves at the trade deadline, it seems like they are heading towards a rebuild and it will be a few more years before they are a competitive team once again. In the meantime, they will be looking to spoil the Arizona Diamondbacks playoff hopes coming down the final stretch of the season with a victory here on Thursday. Unfortunately for the Chicago White Sox, I don’t see that happening as I look for Arizona to pick up the victory.

Miami Marlins @ New York Mets – 7:10PM ET

The Miami Marlins will have to pick up a victory in this game if they want to remain in the race for the National League wildcard, heading into the final four days of the regular season. After an avoidable doubleheader earlier in the week, Miami is on the ropes when it comes to their playoff dreams this season and they haven’t helped themselves throughout the year either. Had Miami not had an epic collapse coming out of the All-Star break they likely would have clinched a spot in the National League playoffs by now but now they’re fighting for their playoff lives here on Thursday night on the road in New York City. They will be looking to grab a victory and keep their hopes alive for another day here on Thursday against the Mets.

The New York Mets have nothing left to play for the season, but they could play a major hand in spoiling the Miami Marlins hopes of making the postseason. New York came into the season with plenty of expectations after they had one of the biggest payrolls in all of Major League Baseball entering the year. Unfortunately, for the New York Mets, they were unable to live up to those expectations as the product they got on the field was not up to the level of the money that they were paying to the players on the field. I don’t see things getting much better for them in this game on Thursday night, as I look for the Miami Marlins to pick up the victory on the road to close out this series. 

Chicago Cubs @ Atlanta Braves – 7:20PM ET

The Chicago Cubs come into the finale of this series against the Atlanta Braves after losing consecutive games in which they held sizable leads going into the late innings. I will be looking to bounce back in the series finale here on Thursday night as they look to keep a stranglehold on the third and final wildcard spot in the National League. Thanks to their back-to-back losses to the Atlanta Braves, the Miami Marlins have been able to tie them for the third wildcard spot in the National League and if they don’t turn things around quickly, Chicago will find themselves on the outside looking in going into the final weekend of the regular season. Chicago will have to find a way to win this game against Atlanta to wrap up the series on Thursday night.

Atlanta Braves come into the finale of this series looking to further damage the Chicago Cubs playoff hopes before heading into the final weekend of the regular season. Atlanta has already picked up two consecutive victories over Chicago and they will be looking to make it three consecutive victories with another win here on Thursday night at home to wrap up the series. The Atlanta Braves have already locked up the number one seed in the National League and they are on the verge of locking up the best record in all of baseball as well and they could do so by grabbing a victory over the Chicago Cubs here in this game. That is exactly what I expect as I have the Atlanta Braves grabbing the win here on Thursday night at home.

Los Angeles Dodgers @ Colorado Rockies – 8:40PM ET

The Los Angeles Dodgers have already wrapped up the National League West division and the second best record in the National League this season. They will be looking to grab a victory in the finale of this series against the Colorado Rockies and gain as much momentum as they can before heading into the postseason. The Los Angeles Dodgers have enough talent on their roster to win the World Series this season as long as they remain healthy and consistent throughout the remainder of the regular season and well into the postseason as well. The Dodgers will be looking to grab a comfortable victory to wrap up this series on the road here on Thursday night.

It has been an awful season for the Colorado Rockies and they are a long way away from becoming a competitive baseball team once again. They are still in the early stages of their rebuilding plans, and they have been one of the worst teams in all of baseball this season because of that. It’ll be a long few years before the Colorado Rockies become competitive in one of the toughest divisions in all of baseball, and they will be looking to build up as much momentum as possible before heading in the next season. I don’t see things getting much better for them in this game as I have the Los Angeles Dodgers picking up the victory.

Texas Rangers @ Seattle Mariners – 9:40PM ET

This is one of the most crucial games of the season for the Texas Rangers as they get ready to open up a four game weekend series against the Seattle Mariners. If they do not perform well against the Seattle Mariners, they could find themselves out of first place in the American League West division by the time the season ends on Sunday night. Texas will have to string together some quality performances throughout the weekend, and it starts with this game against Seattle on Thursday night on the road in the Pacific Northwest. Texas comes into the opening game of this series leading the American League West by less than three games. 

The Seattle Mariners will be looking to pick up a crucial victory in the opening game of the series on Thursday night at home against the American League West division leading, Texas Rangers. Seattle will have to pick up a crucial victory in this game if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive and get themselves secure in the top three of the American League wildcard race. Seattle is already missing out on the opportunity to have three consecutive 90 win seasons, and they will be looking to clinch their second consecutive playoff appearance with a quality finish to the regular season over the weekend. I expect them to get things off on the right foot and pick up the victory here on Thursday night at home.
