Cincinnati Reds @ Detroit Tigers – 1:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

It has been a roller coaster of a season for the Cincinnati Reds, and they will be hoping to finish it off on a positive note with a playoff appearance. They will have some work to do if they want to get themselves back into the three of the National League wildcard race, and they cannot afford to slip up late in the season as the National League wildcard race is the tightest race in baseball at the moment. Cincinnati comes into the finale of this series with the Detroit Tigers with a record of 76-71 through their first 147 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They are currently on a three game winning streak, and they have picked up six victories in their last 10 games on the season.

It has been a less than impressive season for the Detroit Tigers, but they have shown plenty of progress in their rebuilding process. They will be looking to cap off this series against the Cincinnati Reds with a victory and avoid the sweep here on Thursday afternoon at home as they look to build as much momentum as possible before heading into next season. Detroit is currently sitting in the middle of the pack in the American League Central division, and if they get hot coming down the final stretch of the season, they could potentially jump Cleveland for second place. Unfortunately for the Detroit Tigers, I don’t see them getting the win here in this game as I have Cincinnati, completing the three game sweep.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Cincinnati Reds (-110)

Miami Marlins @ Milwaukee Brewers – 2:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

It has been an up-and-down season for the Miami Marlins, but they are still well within striking distance of the National League wildcard race heading into the final two weeks of the year. They will need to pick up a crucial victory over the Milwaukee Brewers here on Thursday afternoon on the road if they want to keep pace with the rest of the National League wildcard teams heading into the weekend. Miami comes into the finale of the series with a record of 75-71 through their first 146 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They are currently right on the brink of grabbing the third wildcard spot in the National League and a victory in this game would likely put them over the top for the time being.

The Milwaukee Brewers come into this game in full control of the National League Central division, and they will be looking to extend their lead in the division here on Thursday afternoon with a victory. They will also be looking to wrap up this series with the Miami Marlins on a positive note here on Thursday afternoon at home as they looked again as much momentum as possible for their potential playoff run in a few weeks. They will also be looking to snap their one game losing streak here in this game on Thursday afternoon and that is exactly what I expect as I have them picking up the victory.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Milwaukee Brewers (-105)

Tampa Bay Rays @ Baltimore Orioles – 7:15PM ET

Tony Battalio

Tampa Bay will be looking to open up the series with a victory over Baltimore as they look to catch the Orioles in the American League East division over the final two weeks of the regular season. This is a massive for Game. We can series for both of these teams as it could decide the fate of the American League East division, and the number one seed in the American League as well. Tampa Bay will be looking to pick up a series opening victory after a rough showing against Minnesota during the week as they look to regroup and regain first place of the division over the weekend.

Baltimore comes into this series with an opportunity to virtually clinch the American League East division. With a quality performance over the weekend against Tampa Bay, they can make their lead almost insurmountable for the Rays to conquer coming down the final stretch of the season. They have been playing solid baseball as of late and I will be looking to keep the momentum rolling here on Thursday night at home against Tampa Bay. Baltimore comes into the opening game of the series with the best record in the American League in outlook for them to pick up a victory here on Thursday evening to add to that league best record.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Baltimore Orioles (-140)

Minnesota Twins @ Chicago White Sox – 7:40PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Minnesota Twins have avoided the problem that hurt them last season, and that is a late season collapse that cost them the American League Central division. This time around they have been one of the hottest teams in baseball coming down the final stretch of the season and they are one step closer to pulling away from Cleveland if they can grab a victory here on Thursday night in the opening game of the series against the Chicago White Sox. Minnesota has built up a near double digit lead over Cleveland at this point in the year and it is all but official at this point that they will win the American League Central division.

At this point in the year are the Chicago White Sox playing for pride and they are playing to build momentum for next season. It has been a rough year for Chicago after they came into the season with expectations of winning the American League Central division but in fact, they have actually been one of the worst teams in all of baseball this year. They will be looking to string and victories together down the final stretch of the season to build a ton of momentum heading into next season, as they look to turn things around in the future. Unfortunately for Chicago, I don’t see them picking up the victory here in this one as I have Minnesota grabbing the win to open up the series.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Minnesota Twins (-190)

San Francisco Giants @ Colorado Rockies – 8:40PM ET

Tony Battalio

The San Francisco Giants are having a quality season and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling in the opening game of this four game weekend series against the Colorado Rockies. San Francisco comes into the opening game of the series right in the mix of the National League wildcard race, which has become the tightest race in baseball coming down the final stretch of the season. The Giants will be looking for a key victory here in this one against Colorado as they look to keep themselves within striking distance of the National League wildcard race over the last two weeks of the regular season.

It has been a very forgetful year for the Colorado Rockies as they have been one of the worst teams in all of baseball and they are very early into the rebuilding process so it could be a while before they become a competitive team once again. At this point of the season they will be playing to build up momentum for next season as they try to avoid becoming one with a couple different teams that will lose over 100 games this season. They will have to finish out the season with 10 victories to avoid losing over 100 games and at this point of the year that seems very unlikely. I don’t expect them to pick up the victory here on Thursday night as I look for the San Francisco Giants to grab the win.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

SF Giants -1.5 (-155)
