Oakland Athletics @ Baltimore Orioles – 1:05PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Oakland Athletics got a huge victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday afternoon to pull themselves within one game heading into the finale on Thursday. Now, Oakland will be looking to get themselves a huge series split to try and get their season back on track after a rough start. Oakland comes into the finale of this series with a record of 3-9 through their first 12 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They have yet to pick up a series victory this season and despite the fact that they won’t get one here either, earning a split in this four game series would be huge for their confidence moving forward.

The Baltimore Orioles will be looking to bounce back after their loss on Wednesday to the Oakland Athletics and take three out of four games at home from Oakland. They couldn’t keep the Oakland offense off the score sheet and the offense of their own that has been so red hot stalled out for them on Wednesday. Now they will have to regroup and get a victory in the finale on Thursday to avoid splitting a four-game series with one of the worst teams in baseball. I look for Baltimore to bounce back and grab the victory in this one on Thursday afternoon.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Baltimore Orioles -1.5 (+105)

Boston Red Sox @ Tampa Bay Rays – 1:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

For the third consecutive evening, the Boston Red Sox failed to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays. Now Boston will go into the fourth and final game of the series looking to avoid the sweep at the hands of the divisional rivals. If not for a huge comeback in this game, this would’ve been the second consecutive blowout loss that Boston has suffered to Tampa Bay. It seems as if they have regressed throughout the duration of this series, and I’ve gotten worse since game one where they only lost one to nothing. Corey Kluber takes the mound for them on Thursday as he looks to pick up his first victory of the season after two consecutive losses to open up the year.

The Tampa Bay Rays just continue to keep winning as they open up their season with a record of 12-0. They are only one victory shy from tying the record for best start since the year 1900 at 13-0. With the way they have played throughout the first three games of this series, the momentum is clearly in their favor as they take the field for the fourth and final game against Boston. They will face off with Corey Kluber, who is nowhere near the same guy that won a Cy Young award during his time in Cleveland. I don’t think Tampa Bay will slow down anytime soon and that is why I have them getting the win in this game.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

TB Rays -1.5 (-125)

Minnesota Twins @ New York Yankees – 7:05PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Minnesota Twins are off to a fast start the season and they currently sit on top of the American League Central division ahead of the Cleveland Guardians. Now on Thursday, they will start a series with the team that the Cleveland Guardians just ended a series with as they travel to the Bronx to play the New York Yankees. They will certainly be looking for a different result in this four-game series, because Cleveland lost their three-game series to the Yankees. Minnesota comes into this game having picked up eight victories in their first 12 games of the season and they are currently on a two game winning streak as well.

The New York Yankees have also had a fast start to the season as they get set to face their  second American League Central division team in a row. They gained a lot of momentum after taking two consecutive games from Cleveland after dropping game number one of the series. The New York Yankees also come into game one of this four-game series on a two game winning streak. In a normal year they are more than likely leading the American League East division with their 8-4 record but with Tampa Bay’s hot start they’ll have to settle for second place for now. However, I think they’re winning streak will be snapped in this one, as I think Minnesota grabs the win on the road in the Bronx.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Minnesota Twins (+125)

Detroit Tigers @ Toronto Blue Jays – 7:07PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Detroit Tigers are having a rough start to the season and now they come into the third and final game of this series against the Toronto Blue Jays looking to get back on track. They come into this one with a record of 2-9 through their first eleven games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They will be looking to avoid the sweep when they take the field on Thursday evening after dropping the first two games of this series to Toronto. Taking the mound for the Tigers in this one will be Spencer Turnbull who is 0-2 with a double-digit ERA at the moment.

After a slow start to the season, the Toronto Blue Jays are starting to heat up and they now come into this game tied for second place in the American League East division. They have picked up eight victories in their first 12 games of the season and they will be looking to complete the three game sweep against Detroit with another victory here on Thursday. Chris Bassitt will take the mound for Toronto as he looks to lower his double digit ERA and pick up his second victory of the season. That is exactly what I expect as I have the Toronto Blue Jays picking up the victory in this game.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 (-125)

Milwaukee Brewers @ San Diego Padres – 9:40PM ET

Tony Battalio

It has been a solid start to the season for the Milwaukee Brewers as they come into this game currently sitting in first place in the division. They have picked up eight victories in their first 12 games of the season and now they will be looking to get a victory in the first of four games in this series against the San Diego Padres on Thursday evening. This should be one of the best series of the weekend. As two of the presumable favorites in the National League get set to square off for four consecutive games. At the moment it is unknown who Milwaukee will be sending to the mound for this game.

The San Diego Padres have had a somewhat slow start to the season as they’ve only picked up seven wins in their first 13 games of the year. They will be hoping to get back on track when they welcome in the Milwaukee Brewers for four games this weekend. Nick Martinez is set to take the mound in game one against the Milwaukee Brewers, as he is still seeking his first victory of the season. San Diego’s offense has carried them throughout this early stretch of the season so far. I expect them to come through again as I have the Padres getting the victory in game number one.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

SD Padres (-150)
