Miami Marlins @ Philadelphia Phillies – 1:05PM ET

The Miami Marlins will need to pick up a victory in the finale of this series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday afternoon on the road to remain inside of contention for the National League wildcard coming into the final few weeks of the season. Miami comes into this game less than two games out of the third and final wildcard spot in the National League and they will be looking to remain within striking distance heading into next week with a victory here over Philadelphia on the road. Miami comes into this game with a record of 73-69 through their first 142 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. 

It was a slow start to the season for Philadelphia but they have picked things up over the summer months. They now find themselves occupying one of the top three spots in the National League wildcard race, and they will be looking to pick up a crucial victory here on Sunday afternoon over the Miami Marlins to extend that lead. Philadelphia comes into this game with a record of 78-63 through their first 141 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They have built up a four game lead in the National League wildcard race and they will be looking to extend that lead here in this one with another victory. That is exactly what I expect as I have Philadelphia getting the win here in this one.

Baltimore Orioles @ Boston Red Sox – 1:35PM ET

The Baltimore Orioles have been one of the best teams in all of baseball this season, and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling in the finale of this series at Fenway Park on Sunday afternoon. Baltimore will also be looking to extend their lead over Tampa Bay in the American League East division and continue their quest towards winning triple digit games this season as well. Baltimore comes into this game with a record of 90-51 through their first 141 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They have built up a four game lead within the division, and they will be looking to further extend that lead with a crucial victory here on Sunday afternoon. 

The Boston Red Sox have had a solid season, but it seems as if they are going to file a little bit short when it comes to qualifying for the playoffs this year. As they have just been saddled with the unlucky proposition of playing within a division that contains Toronto, Tampa Bay, and Baltimore as well. Those three teams make up three of the best teams in all of baseball. This season and the Red Sox have been the odd ones out when it comes to the wildcard and divisional standings. Unfortunately for the Boston Red Sox, I don’t see things getting much better for them here in this one as I look for Baltimore to pick up the victory to wrap up the series.

St.Louis Cardinals @ Cincinnati Reds – 1:40PM ET

The St.Louis Cardinals came into the season with plenty of expectations, but they have not lived up to those expectations this year at all. They have been one of the worst teams in all of baseball this season, and they will be looking to play for pride to finish out the regular season at this point as they look to spoil the Cincinnati Reds hopes of making the playoffs this year. The Cardinals come into this game with a record of 63-79 through their first 142 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. That puts them in last place in the National League Central division. They will be looking to extend their two game winning streak with a victory here in this one to close out this series. 

It has been an up-and-down season for the Cincinnati Reds and right now this game against the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon at home feels like a must win game if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. Cincinnati comes into the finale of the series yet to pick up a victory over St. Louis this weekend as they have lost the first two games of the series and they will be looking to avoid the three game sweep with a victory here in this one. They have lost their last three games in a row and five are the last 10 on the season as they continue to put themselves in a deeper hole. Luckily for the Cincinnati Reds, I do expect them to pick up the victory here in this one the bounce back and grab themselves some much needed momentum heading into the week.

San Diego Padres @ Houston Astros – 2:10PM ET

It has not been a good season for the San Diego Padres and at this point in the year they will be looking to play spoiler for the remaining teams on their schedule. They were expected to be potential favorites to win the National League pennant, and potentially even make a World Series as well after they went all in at last year’s trade deadline. However, several of those moves have not panned out for San Diego, and it is rumoured that they will make several moves over the off-season to enter sort of a soft rebuilding era for the franchise. San comes into this game with a record of 67-76 through their first 143 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season.

The defending World Series champions will desperately need a victory in the finale of this series against San Diego on Sunday afternoon at home. They will be looking to extend their lead on the Seattle Mariners in the American League West division title race with a victory over San Diego here on Sunday. As they have built themselves a one and a half game lead heading into the second full week of September. They are currently on a one game winning streak, and they have picked up six victories in their last ten games on the season. I expect them to pick up yet another victory here in the finale of this series on Sunday against the Padres.

Arizona Diamondbacks @ Chicago Cubs – 2:20PM ET

It has been a solid season for the Arizona Diamondbacks and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling in the finale of this four game weekend series against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday afternoon at Wrigley Field. Every game at this point in the season feels like a must win game for the Arizona Diamondbacks as they look to find themselves in the top three of the National League wildcard race at the end of the regular season. They have been one of the hottest teams in baseball over the past week as they are currently on a four game winning streak and they have won six out of their last ten on the season as well. They will be looking to make it five in a row and complete the sweep over Chicago with a victory here in this one.

The Chicago Cubs have been having a solid last couple of months and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling and snap their losing streak with a victory here on Sunday afternoon against the Arizona Diamondbacks at home. Chicago currently occupies the second wildcard spot in the National League as they are one game ahead of Arizona. Their lead over the Diamondbacks quickly evaporated over the weekend with some lackluster performances against Arizona that has led to them losing the first three games in the series. Unfortunately for the Chicago Cubs, I don’t see that happening as I look for the Arizona Diamondbacks to pick up the victory here in this one.
