Philadelphia Phillies @ Pittsburgh Pirates – 1:35PM ET

Tony Battalio

Philadelphia couldn’t quite get the job done in Saturday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. They lost a high scoring, one run game to their in-state rivals and their late comeback attempts fell short. They will be looking to bounce back in the finale of this series on Sunday afternoon as they try to take two out of three games from the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road at PNC Park. Philadelphia will be in dire need of a victory in this game as they still have a long hill to climb when it comes to making up the distance between them and the Atlanta Braves in the National League East division.

The Pittsburgh Pirates picked up a huge victory in the middle game of this three-game weekend series against Philadelphia on Saturday night at home. They will be looking to use that momentum to grab a victory here on Sunday afternoon at home and take two out of three games from their in-state rivals as they try to get their season back on track. After winning 22 out of their first 30 games of the season they have been on a tailspin ever since. Since starting 22-8 they have a record of 24-50 over their last 74 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. However, I don’t see them grabbing a victory here on Sunday as I have Philadelphia picking up the victory in the finale of the series.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Philadelphia Phillies (-150)

Milwaukee Brewers @ Atlanta Braves – 1:35PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Milwaukee Brewers have looked absolutely lost this weekend against the Atlanta Braves as they suffered the second consecutive blowout loss at the hands of the Braves on Saturday evening. Now they come into the finale of this three-game series and the season finale between these two teams looking to avoid getting swept this weekend. There is not much left for them to play for besides holding onto their lead in the National League Central division as they have already lost the season series against the Atlanta Braves and four out of five games against Atlanta this season as well. However, if they continue to play like they have over the previous two nights, they will not stand much of a chance in this one.

The Atlanta Braves have looked absolutely unstoppable throughout the weekend thus far. They have scored double digit runs in both of the first two games of this series, and they will be looking to cap it off with a third consecutive explosion at the plate here on Sunday afternoon at home. Atlanta has established themselves as one of the best teams in all of baseball this season and they have picked up 66 victories in their first 102 games of the year. I expect them to keep the momentum rolling in the finale of this series on Sunday at home and for them to pick up another comfortable victory over Milwaukee to wrap up this series.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Atlanta Braves

Washington Nationals @ New York Mets – 1:40PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Washington Nationals picked up a must win victory on Saturday night against the New York Mets in the third game of their four game weekend series. Now they will be looking to clinch a split of this four-game series with another victory over the New York Mets on Sunday afternoon at Citi Field. Wins have been rare for Washington this season and this is perhaps their best performance at the plate all year as the eclipse, the double digit run mark, and everyone in the lineup had a field day at the plate. They will be looking to replicate that performance on Sunday afternoon as they look to avoid losing three out of four games to the New York Mets.

The New York Mets just continue to fall farther and farther into the black hole that this season has been for them. They traded away star pitcher Max Scherzer to the Texas Rangers late Saturday night with signals. They might be kicking the tires on the 2023 Major League Baseball season. It certainly didn’t help matters when they were blown out by the Washington Nationals on Saturday night, and now they will be looking to bounce back in Sunday’s finale and take three out of four games from Washington as they attempt to get their season back on track. Luckily for the New York Mets, Justin Verlander is expected to get the start in this game, and I expect them to grab the victory here on Sunday afternoon behind a solid performance from their former Cy Young award winning pitcher.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

NY Mets -1.5 (-135)

Minnesota Twins @ Kansas City Royals – 2:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

Minnesota has looked absolutely lost throughout the weekend against the Kansas City Royals. They have been unable to capitalize on the Cleveland Guardians losses over the past few nights as they have lost two consecutive games to Kansas City. They now find themselves looking to avoid a three-game sweep here on Sunday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium. Minnesota will be desperately looking to grab a victory here on Sunday afternoon as they still like to extend their lead within the American League Central division to wrap up the weekend. Their pitching will have to perform much better as they have been giving up plenty of runs to a lackluster Kansas City offense throughout the last two games.

The Kansas City Royals have been taking full advantage of an average Minnesota Twins bullpen over the last two games, and they will be looking to complete the three game sweep here on Sunday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium. The previous two games of the season can arguably be called their best two performances at the plate that they’ve seen in back to back games all year. They will be looking to roll that momentum into a third consecutive victory over the Minnesota twins here on Sunday as they look to play spoiler on the Twins division title hopes. Unfortunately for the Kansas City Royals, I don’t see that happening as I think Minnesota will get back in the win column here on Sunday afternoon.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Minnesota Twins (-185)

Cincinnati Reds @ Los Angeles Dodgers – 4:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Cincinnati Reds are in the middle of a successful season right now, but they have had their hands full with the Los Angeles Dodgers throughout the weekend. After pulling out a victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the opening game of the series on Friday night they had an opportunity to get a second consecutive victory on Saturday as well. However, they were unable to come out on top as they lost by a single run in a close, low scoring matchup. Now they will be looking to bounce back here in Sunday’s finale and take two out of three games from the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road in the City of Angels.

The Los Angeles Dodgers picked up a much-needed victory in the middle game of their three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday night. Now they will be looking to use that momentum to pick up a second consecutive victory here in Sunday afternoons finale as they look to take two out of three games for my contending team in the National League. I expect them to come out here in Sunday’s finale looking hungry and ready to hit the baseball as they can’t let Graham Ashcraft get deep into the count on them. I expect another close game, but in the end, I have the Los Angeles Dodgers grabbing the victory.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

LA Dodgers (-185)
