San Francisco Giants @ Washington Nationals – 1:35PM ET

The San Francisco Giants were embarrassed by the Washington Nationals in their game on Saturday. As Washington scored double-digit runs against San Francisco and had the game wrapped up by the time the middle innings came around. Now San Francisco will be looking to bounce back in the finale of this three-game series here on Sunday afternoon in the nation’s capital. It is the second straight loss for the Giants as they continue to struggle against lesser competition. Now they will be looking to avoid getting swept in the series here in Sunday’s series finale. 

The Washington Nationals come into the finale of this series with a ton of momentum after picking up two consecutive victories over San Francisco throughout the weekend. It has been a rough season for Washington so for them to grab a pair of wins over a potential playoff team in the National League has to feel good. They are still in the middle of the rebuild that has been ongoing since they won the World Series in 2019 and any sign of positivity is a step in the right direction for this club. I expect Washington to get a third consecutive victory, led by a quality performance from MacKenzie Gore on the mound.

Kansas City Royals @ New York Yankees – 1:35PM ET

It has been a rough season for the Kansas City Royals and it hasn’t gotten better over the weekend against the New York Yankees. They have lost the first two games of this series, and now they will be looking to avoid being swept by the New York Yankees here on Sunday afternoon in the Bronx. The odds are not in their favor right now as they are putting their worst starting pitcher on the mound for the finale of this series. As Jordan Lyles will be on the mound and he has one victory and 11 losses on his record so far this season. The Royals offense also doesn’t have enough firepower to keep up with an unhealthy Yankees offense in this one either.

The New York Yankees have gotten back on track over the weekend as they have picked up a pair of victories over the Kansas City Royals in the first two games of this series. They will be looking to finish them off on Sunday afternoon and complete them. The three-game sweep at home with Luis Severino taking the mound for New York in this one. I expect the Yankees to grab a third consecutive comfortable victory over the Kansas City Royals in the finale of this series on Sunday afternoon as the Yankees like to get themselves back into playoff contention in the American League.

Philadelphia Phillies @ Cleveland Guardians – 1:40PM ET

The Philadelphia Phillies have yet to pick up a victory over Cleveland throughout the first two games of this series. Now they come into the finale of this series on Sunday afternoon, looking to avoid being swept by the Cleveland Guardians on the road. Even with their best pitcher on the mound on Saturday night Philadelphia couldn’t get it done as they held the Guardians to a single run because of an error but their offense did not show up at all. Philadelphia continues to fall farther and farther out of the playoff race in the National League with each loss and if they don’t turn things around quickly, they will be sitting at home on the couch in October. Aaron Nola is expected to take the mound for Philadelphia in the finale on Sunday as he looks to get his 10th victory of the season.

The Cleveland Guardians are having a solid week, and they will be looking to cap off the weekend with a three-game sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies. They will be hoping to avoid the same mistake they made during the week against the Pittsburgh Pirates where they took the first two games and choked away the finale. As they could use the momentum of completing the three-game sweep heading into next week, as they look to regain first place in the American League Central division. That is exactly what I expect as I look for Cleveland to cap off the sweep of Philadelphia with another victory here on Sunday afternoon.

Toronto Blue Jays @ Seattle Mariners – 4:10PM ET

The Toronto Blue Jays came up short for the second consecutive night as they lost another one-run game to the Seattle Mariners. Now they will be looking to bounce back in the finale and avoid losing three consecutive games to Seattle and getting swept over the weekend. Toronto certainly cannot afford to lose close games or key games against fellow American League playoff contenders, because, at this moment in time, it seems as if it’s Wild Card or bust for the Toronto Blue Jays if they want to make the playoffs this season. Toronto has now lost two in a row and they will need to bounce back in the finale on Sunday to save some momentum before heading into next week.

The Seattle Mariners have a solid start to the series this weekend, and they will be looking to cap it off by completing the three-game sweep here on Sunday afternoon at home. They can certainly use all the momentum that a sweep would bring them as they try to crawl their way back into the American League wild card and American League West division title race. Seattle has now extended they’re winning streak to three games, and they are tied with the Angels for third place in the division. I expect them to take advantage of a struggling Alek Manoah, and pick up their third consecutive victory in this series on Sunday afternoon.

New York Mets @ Boston Red Sox – 7:10PM ET

The New York Mets had a solid come-from-behind victory in the first game of the series against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night at Fenway Park. The game was picked up on Saturday afternoon after it was suspended due to inclement weather on Friday night. However, the New York Mets run, able to hold on to any of that momentum in the second game of the doubleheader as the Boston Red Sox picked up a two-run victory in game number to cap off the evening. Now the Mets will be looking to bounce back and finish off this series by taking two out of three games from the Boston Red Sox on the road and grab a much-needed momentum boost as July is quickly coming to a close. 

The Boston Red Sox grabbed a massive victory in the second game of their “doubleheader” against the New York Mets on Saturday night. Now they will be looking to cap off the series with another victory to take two out of three games from New York and keep themselves in position to make a playoff run this season as they try to crawl their way back into the American League playoff race. However, I expect the New York Mets to bounce back behind a quality start from Carlos Carrasco on the mound on Sunday afternoon. As I look for the Mets lineup to do just enough to get a solid victory over the Boston Red Sox.
