Baltimore Orioles @ Tampa Bay Rays – 1:10PM ET

The Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays are finishing up their three game series in this one. The Tampa Bay Rays have won the first two games of the series and are looking to complete the sweep in this one.

Tony Battalio

It’s already showing signs of a rough year for the Baltimore Orioles as they have started out 0-2 on the season. Despite losing both games they have looked a lot more competitive than they have in years past and could potentially be on the turn around this season, if things fall into place. They will be looking to grab their first win of the 2022 season in this one, as they can’t really afford to fall far behind playing in one of the toughest divisions in baseball.

The Tampa Bay Rays are many peoples favorites to make it back to the World Series and potentially even win a championship for the first time in franchise history. They are a young team loaded with spectacular talent and are very capable of getting the job done. They have already gotten the 2022 season off to a spectacular start. As for the result of this one I have Tampa Bay getting the victory over Baltimore to start 3-0.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Tampa Bay Rays (-205)

Jeffery Thomas

The Baltimore Orioles struggles against the Tampa Bay Rays continued on Saturday with their 5-3 loss. Tampa is now 20-1 against Baltimore since the start of 2021 and their current run is 14 straight in this head to head. This is the first time in 12 years that the Orioles have lost the first two games of a season and will turn to RHP Tyler Wells to try and avoid a dreadful 3-0 start. It’s just the fifth time in the Rays’ 25-year existence that they’ve started a season 2-0 and will turn to former Cy Young award winner Corey Kluber in the final game of the series, looking for a perfect 3-0 start.

The Tampa Bay Rays are the much better team and have dominated this head to head like I’ve mentioned so it’s not going to be a hard one to pick. I haven’t seen anything from this Orioles team that gives me much hope for them and I think they will start the year victims of a sweep here and I’m taking the Rays to do so by at least a couple runs.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -1.5 (+100)

Marko Nadin

The Tampa Bay Rays have started the season with two consecutive wins over the Baltimore Orioles by 2-1 and 5-3 and now have won 14 straight games against the team from B-more. Francisco Mejia hit a two-run homerun in the third inning for a 5-2 lead and the Rays won despite failing to score in the last 5 innings. Tampa Bay will start Corey Kluber who will make his debut for the Rays in his 12th season in the league. Kluber was 5-3 with a 3.83 ERA last season for the New York Yankees.

The Baltimore Orioles will have another season near the bottom of the league and the rest of the league will build their record when they play against them. The Priols scored only 4 runs in the first two games against Tampa Bay and had a total of 15 hits. Tyler Wells will open up his second season in the league after going 2-3 on a 4.11 ERA last season. Baltimore has lost 52 of the last 66 road games and 56 of the last 78 games after losing the first 2 games of the series. The Rays have won 41 of the last 55 games as home favorites but have lost 9 of the last 11 third games of a series.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Baltimore Orioles +1.5 (-120)

Chicago White Sox @ Detroit Tigers – 1:10PM ET

The Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox are finishing up their three game series in this one. The Tigers and White Sox have split the first two games of the series and the winner will take the series in this one.

Tony Battalio

The Chicago White Sox are coming off of a playoff appearance and an American League Central division championship last season. They are the clear favorites to repeat as division champions again this season and likely get farther in the Major League Baseball playoffs as well. They are 1-1 on the season coming into this series deciding matchup with the Detroit Tigers as they picked up the win on Saturday by a score of 5-2 and dropping the season opener earlier in the week.

The Detroit Tigers have had a rough couple of years but could be on the verge of turning the corner this season. They are currently 1-1 on the year after snagging the opener but failing to pick up the win in yesterday’s ballgame. Now they will look to take the series win in Sunday’s finale. As for the result of this game however, I don’t see it happening as I have the Chicago White Sox getting the victory in this series deciding game.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Chicago White Sox (-138)

Jeffery Thomas

Dylan Cease remained unbeaten in his 10 career starts versus the Detroit Tigers in the 5-2 win for the White Sox on Saturday. He went 5 innings and only allowed 2 hits and 1 run, while striking out 8 batters. Cease is carrying over the momentum from the end of last season where he went 6-11 in his last 11 starts. Jose Abreu had 2 hits and scored 2 runs in the win, while Eloy Jimenez drove in two runs. The Tigers will turn to LHP Tarik Skubal to try and win the series on Sunday. Skubal started three times against the White Sox last year, winning two of them and striking out 23 batters in 16 innings.

One thing that will be a theme for me this year is backing the White Sox when they’re facing left-handed pitching which is going to be the case on Sunday. This lineup feasts on lefties and after breaking the ice with 5 runs on Saturday, I think we will see even more in Sunday’s game. A play on the team total is not a bad look at all but I also think they will win the game so that’s going to be my official pick, as the Sox welcome Tim Anderson back to the lineup after a two-game suspension.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Chicago White Sox (-138)

Marko Nadin

The Detroit Tigers and the Chicago White Sox have split the first two games of the series with the Tigers winning the first one 5-4 and the White Sox answering with a 5-2 win. Dylan Cease remained unbeaten in his 10th start against the Tigers. Chicago had 10 hits in the game and after taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning had no trouble by the end of the game. The White Sox will start Michael Kopech who is going into his third season in the league. Koepch was 4-3 last season with a 3.50 ERA.

The Tigers will have Tarik Skubal on the mound who went 8-12 last season with a 4.34 ERA. Detroit has won 6 of the last 10 games against the White Sox. They have also won 6 of the last 7 games, three of the series, and 7 of the last 10 home games. The White Sox have won 7 of the last 9 games going in as favorites and 4 of the last 5 games played on Sunday Detroit has won 5 of the last 6 games against the White Sox at home.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Detroit Tigers (+118)

Texas Rangers @ Toronto Blue Jays – 1:37PM ET

The Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays are finishing up their three game series in this one. The Toronto Blue Jays have won the first two games of the series and are looking to complete the sweep in this one.

Tony Battalio

The Texas Rangers have had a rough start to what is supposed to be a very promising season for them. After blowing a seven run lead in the opening game of the season they would go on to lose that game as well as the second game of the series as well. Now they’re looking to avoid a sweep against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday in Canada. Spencer Howard is on the hill for them in this one as he is making his first start of the season.

The Toronto Blue Jays are already looking great and are off to a fast start. They are 2-0 on the season and already have a couple of incredible victories under their belt. Now they will look to snag win number three against Texas in this one and start the season out with a three game sweep. As for the result of this game, I expect the Toronto Blue Jays to pull off the sweep and continue to be a massive thorn in the Texas Rangers’ sides.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Toronto Blue Jays (-245)

Jeffery Thomas

The Toronto Blue Jays moved to 2-0 on the season with their 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers on Saturday. This win was much more convenient than their 7-run comeback wins the day and Toronto has now won their first two games of the season for the first time since 2016. George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. each had two hits and Bo Bichette homered in the win. Jordan Ramano has recorded a save in both games now and has recorded 25 consecutive saves dating back to last season. The Rangers haven’t yet announced a starter for Sunday’s finale while the Jays will turn to LHP Hyun Jin Ryu who is 1-1 against the Rangers in his career.

The Blue Jays are a very loaded team and have found ways to win both games despite falling behind in each of them so far. I think this Rangers team lacks what it takes to keep this Blue Jays lineup down for a full nine innings and Sunday will be the completion of a clean series sweep to begin the season.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Toronto Blue Jays (-245)

Marko Nadin

The Toronto Blue Jays are one of the favorites going into the 2022 season and they have shown that by winning the opening two games against the Texas Rangers by 10-8 and 4-3. In both games, the Rangers had the lead but didn’t manage to hold on until the end of the game. The Blue Jays will start Hyun Jin Ryu who was 14-10 last season with a 4.37 ERA. Toronto has won the last 4 games against Texas and 7 of the last 10.

The Rangers will start Spencer Howard was 0-5 last season with a 7.43 ERA. Texas has lost 13 of the last 19 games, 40 of the last 55 games against a left-handed pitcher, and 50 of the last 65 road games. The Blue Jays have won the last 5 games against AL West, 10 of the last 12 games 3 of a series, and 26 of the last 36 overall games.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Toronto Blue Jays (-245)

San Diego Padres @ Arizona Diamondbacks – 4:10PM ET

The San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks are finishing up their three game series in this one. The Padres and Diamondbacks have split the first two games of the series and the winner will take the series in this one.

Tony Battalio

The San Diego Padres are a young team with a massive amount of talent and some of the best young stars in baseball like Fernando Tatis Junior. They have a ton of potential this season as long as they can avoid collapsing late into the year as they did in 2021. They come into this game with the goal of winning their first series of the year and taking the deciding game on Sunday. Taking the hill for them in this series finale will be Blake Snell as he will look to get his 2022 campaign off to a good start.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are also coming into this matchup with the goal of winning their first series of the brand new season. However, if the Diamondbacks can get the win many people would consider it an upset of sorts as they were one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball last season. Taking the hill for them in this game will be Caleb Smith. As for the result of this one I have the San Diego Padres getting the win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: San Diego Padres (-164)

Jeffery Thomas

The San Diego Padres pushed ahead in the series and moved to 2-1 on the year with their 5-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday night. Eric Hosmer hit the go-ahead RBI single in the 8th inning which gave the Padres the lead for good. The starting pitchers for San Diego hadn’t given up a hit all series (13.1 innings) until Ketel Marte got a hit in the first inning of Saturday’s game. According to STATS, the Padres became the only team in the modern era to have a starting pitcher give up no hits through at least six innings in back-to-back games.

The Padres aside from Game 1 when they lost on the walk-off have dominated this series and I don’t see why things will change in this one. Blake Snell is taking the bump for San Diego in this one and is a superior left-handed pitcher to Caleb Smith, whose ERA was approaching 5.00 last season. I expect the Padres to jump on him early and then ride out the lead to a victory, closing out the series.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: San Diego Padres (-164)

Marko Nadin

The Arizona Diamondbacks won the opening game of the season 4-2 against San Diego and the Padres won the next two games by 3-0 and 5-2. San Diego has 10 hits in the last game, five more than the D-Backs. Eric Hosmer had the go-ahead hit in the eighth inning which opened the door for the second consecutive win for the Padres. San Diego will start Blake Snell tonight who was 7-6 for the Padres last season with a 4.20 ERA. Arizona will start with Caleb Smith who was 4-9 last season with a 4.83 ERA.

Arizona has won 6 of the last 7 home games with the total set at 6.5 or lower but have lost 12 of the last 17 games overall. They have also lost 5 of the last 6 games against a left-handed pitcher and 17 of the last 22 Sunday games. The Padres have won 5 of the last 6 game 4 of a series but have lost 39 of the last 58 road games. Arizona have won 16 of the last 21 games against San Diego.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks (+138)

Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees – 7:08PM ET

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are finishing up their three game series in this one. The New York Yankees have won the first two games of the series and are looking to complete the sweep in this one.

Tony Battalio

After two thrilling games the New York Yankees find themselves sitting at 2-0 on the season. Those two wins are even sweeter when you consider they come against their arch rivals the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees are looking to find their way back to their first World Series in 13 years this season and they certainly have the team to get them there. They will be looking for the sweep in this one to open up the season.

The Boston Red Sox are having a rough start to the 2022 season. They have lost two thrilling games to the New York Yankees and now they will be looking to avoid a season opening sweep in this game. Taking the hill for the Red Sox in this one will be Tanner Houck as he will be looking to approve upon a dreadful 2021 year where he went 1-5 in 18 appearances. As for the result of this game however, I can’t see it happening as I have the New York Yankees getting the victory to complete the sweep at home in the Bronx.

Tony’s MLB Pick: New York Yankees (-144)

Jeffery Thomas

Giancarlo Stanton hit a two-run bomb in the 6th inning to break a 2-2 tie and give the Yankees the lead for good in the 4-2 win on Saturday. In the process, Stanton became the first player to ever homer in six straight games against Boston. Anthony Rizzo drove in the other two wins for the Yankees who moved to 2-0 on the season. This is the second straight season that Boston has started 0-2, as they went 0 for 10 with runners in scoring position and couldn’t get any offense besides a 2-run home run from Alex Verdugo in the 2nd inning.

We got a low-scoring affair on Saturday but I think the offense picks back up in the series finale on Sunday. Both teams are trotting out mediocre starters, Jordan Montgomery for New York and Tanner Houck for Boston, and should provide plenty of base runners and scoring opportunities. Neither guy had a winning record in 2021 and both guys ERAs were over 3.50. Going to be a lot of runs similar to Friday’s 6-5 contest so give me the over here.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Over 9 Runs (-115)

Marko Nadin

The New York Yankees have the best possible start of the season with two consecutive wins over the fierce rival Boston Red Sox by 6-5 and 4-2. Boston took a 2-0 lead in the second inning but that was all we saw from them for the night and the Yankees patiently tuned things around. The Yankees will start Jordan Montgomery who was 6-7 with a 3.83 ERA last season. New York has won the last 4 third games of a series and 5 of the last 7 home games.

The Red Sox will have Tanner Houck on the mound who was 1-5 last season with a 3.52 ERA. The Red Sox have lost 7 of the last 8 games against the Yankees and 10 of the last 15 games between these two teams have finished under the total runs margin. The Red Sox have won 7 of the last 8 games with the total set at 11.0 or higher and the last 6 games against a pitcher with a WHIP less than 1.15. Boston has played over the total runs margin in 9 of the last 10 games and 10 of the last 11 on grass.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Boston Red Sox +1.5 (-164)
