Oakland Athletics @ Minnesota Twins – 2:10PM ET

The Oakland Athletics and Minnesota Twins will be playing the second game of their three game series. In game number one it was the Minnesota Twins who got the victory over Oakland. Now the Twins will be looking to clinch the series.

Tony Battalio

The Oakland Athletics are having a rough start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They come into this game with a record of 10-16 through their first 26 games of the season. They are currently on a seven game losing streak and have slipped all the way to the bottom of the American League West standings. They had a fire sale over the offseason and it is finally catching up on the field and in the owners pockets as well as they have the lowest attendance in baseball.

The Minnesota Twins have come on strong and now sit in the top spot in the American League Central. They come into this one with a record of 16-11 through their first 27 games of the season. They currently hold a three game lead over the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians. As for the result of this one I am taking the Minnesota Twins to pick up the victory.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Minnesota Twins

Jeffery Thomas

The Oakland Athletics suffered their seventh straught loss in a row on Friday when the Minnesota Twins squeaked out the 2-1 victory at home. It was once again an absymal performance at the plate for the As who only got that one run off a sacrifice fly in the 6th inning. They’ve scored 3 or less runs in five of those seven losses and now will enter Saturday in search of a miracle offensively. The Twins are sitting at first place in the AL Central and the win on Friday snapped a 2-game losing streak.

The matchup of the dominant defense and pitching for the Twins paired with the As lack of production at the plate, makes this a very bad spot for Oakland. The Twins had a rare down game at the plate on Friday and still got the win so when they get things rolling on Saturday it’s going to be an even bigger win. I like the Twins to build on the series opener by getting this game in a blowout.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Minnesota Twins -1.5

Marko Nadin

The Minnesota Twins are on top of AL Central with a 16-11 record. They won the opening game of the series against Oakland after losing the previous two games. The Twins are the sixth-best defensive team in the league allowing 3.47 runs per game and are ranked 16th in the league with 4.34 runs per game. The Twins will start Sony Gray who is 0-1 for the season and has a 5.68 ERA. Minnesota has won the last 4 second games of a series and the last 6 home games.

The Oakland Athletics are at the bottom of the AL West with a 10-16 record. The Athletics have lost the last 7 games being swept in the series against Cleveland and Tampa Bay before dropping the first game against the Twins. Oakland is 23rd in the league with 3.74 runs per game and 19th allowing 4.30 runs per game. James Kaprielian will start for the Athletics tonight, who is 0-1 for the series with an 18.00 ERA. Oakland has lost 7 of the last 10 second games of a series and 4 of the last 5 games played on Saturday.

Noah’s MLB Pick: Minnesota Twins

Detroit Tigers @ Houston Astros – 4:05PM ET

The Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros will be playing the third game of their four game series. In game number one and two Houston got the win. They have a shot to clinch the series win in this one.

Tony Battalio

The Detroit Tigers are coming into this game having a rough start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They come into this game with a record of 8-17 through their first 25 games of the season. They are in last place of the American League Central at the moment and they will likely be there for the majority or all of the season. They are currently on a three game losing streak as they are 2-8 in their last ten games of the season.

The Houston Astros are expected to be one of the best teams in Major League Baseball this season. They are expected to win the American League pennant and return to the World Series. They come into this game with a record of 16-11 through their first 27 games of the season. They are currently in second place of the American League West as they are 1.5 games behind the Los Angeles Angels. As for the result of this game I am taking the Houston Astros to get the win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Houston Astros (-205)

Jeffery Thomas

The Houston Astros opened this serie on Thursday with a close 3-2 win and got another one run victory on Friday by the same score. It’s now 5 wins in a row for the Astros who are slowly finding their groove and inching their way closer to that first place spot in the AL West. The Detroit Tigers on the other hand are struggling and have lost 10’of their last 12 games. This recent slide has them sitting at dead last in the AL Central.

There’s no reason to back the Tigers on the road in this game with one of the weakest offenses in the league. Framber Valdez suffered a loss in his last outing against the Blue Jays but has a prime opportunity to bounce back here at home and that’s exactly what he will do.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Houston Astros (-205)

Marko Nadin

The Houston Astros are second in the AL West with a 16-11 record. They have won the last 5 games not allowing more than 2 runs in each of those games. The Astros won the first two games against Detroit by 3-2 and will start Framber Valdez tonight who is 1-2 for the season with a 3.42 ERA. Houston is fifth in the league, hitting 1.33 home runs per game and 20th, scoring 3.89 runs per game. They are ranked 7th allowing 3.53 runs per game. The Astros have won the last 6 games as favorites and the last 6 games against a left-handed pitcher.

The Detroit Tigers are at the bottom of the AL Central with a 8-17 record. They have lost the last three games not scoring more than two runs in each of those games. The Tigers are second to last in the league scoring only 3.18 runs per game and 18th allowing 4.26 runs per game. Detroit will start Eduardo Rodriguez, who is 0-2 for the season with a 5.33 ERA. The Tigers have won 5 of the last 6 games after losing the first two games of a series but have lost 9 of the last 11 games overall.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Houston Astros (-205)

Toronto Blue Jays @ Cleveland Guardians – 6:10PM ET

The Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Guardians had the second game of their four game series rained out on Friday and now they will play a double header on Saturday. This will be the second game of the doubleheader.

Tony Battalio

The Toronto Blue Jays lost the opener of this series and now they will be looking to bounce back in game one and two of the double header against the Cleveland Guardians. Toronto comes into this season expected to be one of the top teams in Major League Baseball and are expected to compete for the American League pennant. They are coming into this doubleheader with a record of 16-11 through their first 27 games of the season. As they currently sit in third place of the American League East division.

The Cleveland Guardians are coming into this doubleheader with a losing record of 12-13 through their first 25 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are in third place in the American League Central at the moment as they are tied with the Chicago White Sox for second but behind them on tiebreakers. As for the result of this one I’m taking the Toronto Blue Jays to pick up the victory over the Cleveland Guardians to split the doubleheader.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Toronto Blue Jays (-130)

Jeffery Thomas

Friday’s game between the Cleveland Guardians and Toronto Blue Jays was postponed due to bad weather so now this will be the night cap of a Saturday doubleheader. Pitchers have not been announced for this game yet, as it was just scheduled as a makeup game. The Jays are coming into this game looking to rebound from losing two of three to the Yankees last series and then the opener of this series on Thursday. The Guardians won that game 6-5 and despite their record being under .500 at 12-13, they sit at second place in the AL Central just 2.5 games back of the first place Minnesota Twins.

The Blue Jays are due for a big game after losing three of their last four games and watching the Rays and Yankees build leads ahead of them in the division. This was one of the best teams to start the year and after some losses, we get a good chance to buy low on them. They’re going to snap back into form eventually and I see this game as a great opportunity getting a built in day off because of the postponement.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Toronto Blue Jays (-130)

Marko Nadin

The Cleveland Guardians are second in the AL Central with a 12-13 record. They have won 5 of the last 6 games including a 6-5 win against the Toronto Blue Jays in the series opener. The Guardians are fifth in the league scoring 4.82 runs per game and 23rd allowing 4.49 runs per game. They will start Shane Bieber tonight who is 1-1 for the season with a 2.45 ERA. Cleveland has won 5 of the last 6 home games and 5 of the last 7 games against a right-handed pitcher.

The Toronto Blue Jays are third in the AL East with a 16-11 record. They have lost 3 of the last 4 games. Toronto is ranked fourth in the league with 1.27 home runs per game and are also ranked 21st with 3.82 runs per game and ninth with .242 AVG and .706 OPS. The Blue Jays will start Kevin Gausman tonight who is 2-1 for the season with a 2.27 ERA. Toronto has won 6 of the last 10 games against Cleveland and 4 of the last 6 road games.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Toronto Blue Jays (-130)

New York Mets @ Philadelphia Phillies – 4:05PM ET

The New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies are meeting for the third time this season. So far the season series sits at 5-2 through seven games. Their game on Friday was rained out and it will be made up on another date.

Tony Battalio

The New York Mets are the best team in Major League Baseball this season. They come into this game with a record of 19-9 through their first 28 games of the season. They will be looking to grab another win against the Philadelphia Phillies in this one. Max Scherzer is taking the mound as he has a 2.61 Earned Run Average at the moment. He has logged 31 innings this season and 42 strikeouts. He has already started against the Phillies once this season as he went six innings and gave up four runs.

The Philadelphia Phillies are 11-15 through their first 26 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are having a rough start and they are having a rough time against the New York Mets so far this season. Starting for the Phillies in this one will be Kyle Gibson. He comes into this start with a 2-1 record of the season. He currently has an Earned Run Average of 2.93 at the moment. He has logged 27 and two thirds and has racked up 26 strikeouts. As for the result of this game I am taking the New York Mets in this one.

Tony’s MLB Pick: New York Mets (-142)

Jeffery Thomas

The New York Mets vs Philadelphia Phillies was another game that got postponed on Friday but instead of a doubleheader on Saturday, the game will be made up all the way on August 20. Max Scherzer will put his perfect 4-0 record and 2.61 ERA to the test in this one against a Phillies team that is probably still stunned after blowing 7-1 ninth inning lead in the series opener between these two teams on Thursday. It was just another loss in a bad stretch for Philadelphia, who has now dropped each of their last four games.

When Max Scherzer takes the mound, his teams usually win. His teams have won each of the past 18 regular-season games he has started and he’s on a career-long 15 game winning streak of his own. Mad Max is coming off a win against this same Phillies team on Sunday, where he struck out nine batters in six innings. There is no reason to believe anything will be different in this matchup and I’m going to continue rolling with the Mets who are looking more and more like the best team in baseball right now.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: New York Mets (-142)

Marko Nadin

The Philadelphia Phillies are third in the NL East with a 11-15 record. They have lost the last 4 games including an 8-7 loss in the series opener against the Mets. The Phillies are 8th in the league scoring 4.66 runs per game and 9th, hitting 1.01 home runs per game. Philadelphia will start Kyle Gibson tonight who is 2-1 for the season with a 2.93 ERA. The Phillies have won 9 of the last 11 second games of a series and 6 of the last 8 games played on Saturday.

The New York Mets are having a great start of the season as they are on top of the NL East with a 19-9 record. They have won 3 of the last 4 games and will start Max Sheerzer tonight who is 4-0 for the season with a 2.61 ERA. The Mets are ranked 9th in the league scoring 4.61 runs per game and second with .258 AVG. Defensively, the Mets are fifth in the league allowing 3.46 runs per game. The Mets have won 6 of the last 7 games against a right-handed starter and 4 of the last 5 road games.

Marko’s MLB Pick: New York Mets (-142)

Washington Nationals @ Los Angeles Angels – 9:07PM ET

The Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Angels will be playing the second game of their three game series. In game number one it was the Los Angeles Angels who got the victory over Washington. Now the Angels will be looking to clinch the series in game number two.

Tony Battalio

The Washington Nationals are having a rough start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They come into this game with a record of 9-19 through their first 28 games of the season. They are in last place of the National League East at the moment as they find themselves ten games out of first place. It has been a rough few years since they won the World Series as they seem like they will be in rebuild for at least a couple more years at this point.

The Los Angeles Angels have been one of the best teams in Major League Baseball so far this season. They are in first place in the American League West at the moment. They have a record of 18-10 through their first 28 games of the season. As for the result of this game I am taking the Los Angeles Angels to pick up the win over the Washington Nationals.

Tony’s MLB Pick: LA Angels

Jeffery Thomas

The Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Angeles will play Game 2 of their weekend series on Saturday. The Angels got the 3-0 victory on Friday only allowing 4 hits to the Nationals. Mike Trout had 2 hits and 2 RBIs in the win that kept them at a distance ahead of the Astros for first place. The Nationals are in dead last in their division and when we get lobsided matchups like these it’s not much that needs to be said to back the much better team. Michael Lorenzen is taking the mound for LAA on Saturday and has won each of his last two starts, going 14 innings and only allowing 3 earned runs. Josiah Gray on the other side is also coming off a win in his last start against the Giants, but this Angels lineup is lethal and will be just a little too much to handle in this one.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: LA Angels

Marko Nadin

The Los Angeles Angels are on top of the AL West with a 18-10 record. They have won the last three games and not allowing a single run in the last two games with an 8-0 win over the Boston Red Sox and a 3-0 win over Washington. The Angels are 4th in the league scoring 4.82 runs per game and third, hitting 1030 home runs per game. They will start Michael Lorenzen tonight who is 3-1 for the season with a 3.04 ERA. The Angles have won 10 of the last 13 games overall.

The Washington Nationals are at the bottom of the NL East with a 9-19 record. They have lost the last three games including the series opener against the Angels. Washington will start Josiah Gray tonight, who is 2-1 for the season with a 2.13 ERA. Washington is ranked second to last allowing 5.49 runs per game and 15th in the league allowing 4.35 runs per game. The Nationals have lost the last 6 road games.

Marko’s MLB Pick: LA Angels
