Atlanta Braves @ New York Mets – 1:10PM ET

The Atlanta Braves and New York Mets will be playing game three or their five game weekend series in this one. This game will also be the first of two games on Saturday as well. In game number one the New York Mets picked up the win. In game number two the Braves got the win.

The Atlanta Braves evened up the series heading into the first game of this doubleheader and game three of the series on Saturday afternoon. The win on Friday brings their record to 64-43 through their first 107 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. Now Atlanta moved within four games of first place in the National League East and have an opportunity to get another two games closer with a couple of victories here on Saturday. They have won six out of their last ten games on the season. 

The New York Mets will be looking to rebound after their loss in game two of this series on Friday evening. Despite their loss to the Atlanta Braves they are still in a great position as they have been one of the best teams in all of Major League Baseball. As they come into the third game of this series with a record of 67-39 through their first 106 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won eight out of their last ten games on the season as well.

It was the Ronald Acuna Jr. show on Friday night as he matched a career-high with four hits and also made a great play in the outfield, robbing Pete Alonso of a two-run home run. Those heroics helped the Atlanta Braves get a 9-6 victory over their divisional rival New York Mets, avenging the 6-4 loss from the day before. This win also helped the Braves avoid their first three-game losing streak of the season, which is unprecedented for how deep into the season we are. 

The Mets division lead now shrinks to just 3.5 games and their run of 27 straight games without allowing more than five runs ends. The Mets could be in trouble in this early game on Saturday after a taxing day for their bullpen in this loss. I think the Braves offense will have another successful day and in doing so will close the gap in the division race even more.

Los Angeles Angels @ Seattle Mariners – 4:10PM ET

The Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners will be playing game two or their four game weekend series in this one. This game will also be the first of two games on Saturday as well. In game number one the Angels got the win and now they will be looking to clinch a share of the series with another win in this game.

The Los Angeles Angels picked up a solid and much needed win over the Seattle Mariners in game one of their four game weekend series. Now they will have the opportunity to clinch a share of the series in game one of this doubleheader and even clinch the series with a doubleheader sweep on Saturday as well. The Angels come into this game with a record of 45-61 through their first 106 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

The Seattle Mariners will be looking for a way to bounce back in this game against the Los Angeles Angels after their loss on Friday. The Mariners are still in a good spot as they come into this game with a record of 57-50 through their first 107 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. The Mariners have won five out of their last ten games on the year and currently sit in second place of the American League West division.

The Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners kicked off their series on Friday night and the fans were treated to some free baseball in a thrilling game. The Angels carried a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the 9th inning before the Mariners rallied and evened the game up at 3 all, forcing extra innings. 

The comeback could not fully be completed though, as the Angels were able to plate the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th before bringing in Jimmy Herget to get his second save of the season. This was a rare win for Los Angeles though and it should not be expected for them to bring that same level again on Saturday, especially against Seattle’s Chris Flexen. I love to fade bad teams after a win and that’s exactly what I will be doing in this spot so give me the Mariners.

The Seattle Mariners are second in the AL West with a 57-50 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games including the series opener to the Angels. The Mariners are 23rd in the league scoring 4.14 runs per game and 6th in the league allowing 3.94 runs per game. Seattle will start George Kirby tonight who is 2-3 for the season with a 3.56 ERA. Seattle has won the 11 of the last 14 second games of a series and 4 of the last 5 home games.

The Los Angeles Angels are fourth in the AL West with a 45-61 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 4-3 extra inning win against Seattle last night. The Angels are 24th in the league scoring 3.97 runs per game and 16th in the league allowing 4.36 runs per game. The Angels will start Patrick Sandoval who is 3-7 for the season with a 3.61 ERA. The Angels have lost 6 of the last 10 second games of a series and 15 of the last 21 home games against right-handed starter.

Pittsburgh Pirates @ Baltimore Orioles – 5:05PM ET

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles will be playing the second game of their three game series in this one. In game one of the series the Orioles got the win. Now they will be looking to clinch the series with a win in this game.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are coming into this game after a tough loss at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles. It was a close game throughout as both teams only managed to score a combined one run in 51 outs. That run came late as the Baltimore Orioles pushed one across in the bottom of the sixth inning to pick up the victory on Friday evening. Now the Pirates fall too 43-63 through their first 106 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

The Baltimore Orioles picked up a huge victory on Friday evening in game one of this three game weekend series. Now they will be looking to clinch the series victory with another win on Saturday evening. Baltimore moves to four games above the .500 mark with a record of 55-51 through their first 106 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have now won seven out of their last ten games on the season and four in a row as well.

The Baltimore Orioles got a huge shutout win on Friday to help their case in the wild card race and will look to repeat that result again on Saturday. Ramon Urias drove in the only run of the game in the 6th inning as this 1-0 win was the fourth straight for Baltimore who is now just 1.5 games back of the final playoff spot in the American League. The Pirates could not get anything going offensively and that was a lucky break for the Os who went just 2 for 15 with runners in scoring position. 

Baltimore has won 31 of their last 47 and will send Austin Voth (1-1) on the mound to take on JT Brubaker (2-9) of Pittsburgh. The Pirates have not fared well in this matchup as they have now lost eight straight at Camden Yards and 9 of the last 12 overall against the Orioles. Expect more of the same come Saturday.

The Baltimore Orioles are fourth in the AL East with a 55-51 record. They are currently on a four-game winning streak and are coming off a 1-0 win last night against the Pirates. The Orioles are 20th in the league scoring 4.29 runs per game and are ranked 11th in the league allowing 4.21 runs per game. Baltimore will start Austin Voth tonight who is 1-1 for the season with a 5.54 ERA. The Orioles have won 10 of the last 11 home games against teams with a losing record and 8 of the last 9 games when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are at the bottom of the NL Central with a 43-63 record. Last night’s loss to the Orioles put an end to the Pirates three-game winning streak. The Pirates are 28th in the league scoring 3.67 runs per game and 26th allowing 5.13 runs per game. They will start JT Brubaker tonight who is 2-9 for the season with a 4.40 ERA. The Pirates have lost 12 of the last 17 second games of a series and 5 of the last 7 games after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Washington Nationals @ Philadelphia Phillies -6:05PM ET

The Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies will be playing the third game of their four game weekend series in this one. In game one it was the Phillies who picked up the victory. In game two the Phillies added win to clinch a share of the series.

The Washington Nationals rough weekend is just getting started as they have already lost the first two games of this four game series against the Philadelphia Phillies. They have only managed to score six runs in the last 18 innings while their pitching staff has given up double that amount in 18 innings as well. The Nationals are coming into game three of this series with a record of 36-72 through their first 108 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently 32 and a half games back of first place in the National League East division as they are already all but officially eliminated from the postseason. 

The Philadelphia Phillies are playing solid baseball at the moment as they come into this game with a record of 58-48 through their first 106 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in third place in the National League East division at the moment. As they sit nine and a half games behind the New York Mets. Philadelphia has won eight of their last ten games on the season and is currently on a three game winning streak.

Kyle Gibson pitched a gem on Friday night, including retiring each of the first 18 batters he faced, as the Philadelphia Phillies beat up on The Washington Nationals in the 7-2 win. Kyle Schwarber hit his NL-leading 34th homer as Philly won for the 8th time in 9 games and moved to 10 games over .500 for the first time since 2019. It is expected for that climb to continue as they play game three of this four game set on Saturday with Ranger Suarez on the mound against Patrick Corbin. 

Corbin has been charged with 15 losses for Washington this season and has a 6.57 ERA, which is not something you want to ever see from your starter. Suarez won’t have to be great in this one to win the pitching battle and should get plenty of run support as his guys get another comfortable victory.

The Philadelphia Phillies are third in the NL East with a 58-48 record. They have won 8 of the last 9 games and are 2-0 up in the series against the Nationals. The Phillies are 8th in the league scoring 4.71 runs per game and 10th in the league allowing 4.19 runs per game. Ranger Suarez will be the Phillies’ starter tonight who is 7-5 for the season with a 3.60 ERA. Philadelphia has 6 of the last 7 games when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game and 9 of the last 11 third games of a series.

The Astros come into Saturday’s game with a record of 70-38 through their first 108 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won their last three games in a row and have won seven out of their last ten games on the year. 

The Cleveland Guardians are going to be desperate for a victory coming into game three of this series. While they are still a great position they will need to get back on track very soon. They come into this game with a record of 54-52 through their first 106 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have now lost two games in a row and five out of their last ten on the season. I have them losing game three of this series as well.

Newly-acquired Houston Astro Trey Mancini had himself a day against the Cleveland Guardians and was a big part of the 9-3 win. He hit two home runs, including his first career grand slam, and has now homered three times in four games with his new team. It’s been a dominant start to the series for the AL West leaders as they have outscored the Guardians 15-3 in two games and they have now won seven straight games as the visitors at Progressive Field.

Cal Quantrill will try and end that streak for Cleveland on Saturday but it’s going to be a very tall task. I think this is just a bad matchup and it would be overthinking things to try and make a compelling argument for the Guardians here. Houston had the advantage in every aspect and will once again get the job done on Saturday.
