Cleveland Guardians @ Toronto Blue Jays – 3:07PM ET

The Cleveland Guardians and Toronto Blue Jays will be playing the second game of their three-game series in this one. In game one of the series, the Guardians got the victory. Now they will be looking to clinch the series here in game two.

The Cleveland Guardians got a huge victory in game one of this three-game weekend series over the Toronto Blue Jays. It was a solid performance for the offense and the starting pitcher Cal Quantrill as he pitched seven innings and didn’t give up a single run. The victory moves the Guardians record on the year to 60-52 through their first 112 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have now won seven out of their last ten on the season and their last six games in a row and remain in first place in the American League Central. 

The Toronto Blue Jays will have a lot of adjustments to make heading into the second game of this three-game weekend series. They looked lethargic against the Guardians on Friday evening and will need to find some offensive production quickly. The loss drops their record on the season down to 60-51 through their first 111 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. The Blue Jays have lost six out of their last ten and currently find themselves on a three-game losing streak.

Cal Quantrill kept up his hot run and led the Cleveland Guardians to an 8-0 blowout of the Toronto Blue Jays north of the border. Quantrill pitched seven shutout innings and moved his winning streak out to five games as Cleveland won their sixth straight. It’s the total opposite for the Blue Jays right now as they have lost three straight and six of their last eight games now. Jose Berrios allowed eight hits and eight runs in just 4 innings of work and lost his first home start in 12 tries this season. 

It’s the second time this year he allowed 8 runs in an outing, the last time being a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers back on June 26. Triston McKenzie is taking the mound for the Guardians on Saturday as he tries to follow up his 8 shutout inning performance against the Houston Astros from last time out. I think that Cleveland is on a special roll at the moment and is stacking up wins to maintain their division lead, so I have to continue riding the hot hand.

The Toronto Blue Jays are second in the AL East with a 60-51 record. They have lost 5 of the last 6 games and are currently on a three-game losing streak. The Blue Jays are 4th in the league scoring 4.83 runs per game and are ranked 16th with 4.36 allowed runs per game. Toronto will start Mitch White tonight who is 1-3 for the season with a 3.86 ERA. Los Angeles Dodgers @ Kansas City Royals – 7:10PM ET

The Kansas City Royals and Los Angeles Dodgers will be playing the second game of their three-game series in this one. In game one of the series, the Dodgers got the victory. Now they will be looking to clinch the series here in game two.

The Los Angeles Dodgers got a huge win in game one of this series and even had a no-hitter going until late in the ballgame. The Dodgers are red hot at the moment as they come into this game with a record of 78-33 through their first 111 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have now won eleven games in a row and continue to run away with the National League West division at this point. As the second place team in the division is 16 games out of first place. 

The Kansas City Royals looked terrible for the majority of this game and now they will have to find a way to bounce back here in game two of this series. They come into this game with a record of 47-67 through their first 114 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are fourteen games out of first place in the American League Central division at the moment and they will likely sit in the bottom two of the division for the majority of the season.

This magical run by the Los Angeles Dodgers continued on Friday night as they blew out the Kansas City Royals for win number 11 in a row. Tony Gonsolin improved his record on the year to a ridiculous 14-1 with his 6.2 innings of one-run ball. This was a harsh fall back down to reality for Kansas City who had sniffed a little success recently, winning their last two series against the Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox. 

This Dodgers team is a whole different level of competition though at the moment and I’m not sure what it will take for a team to beat them. During the entirety of this winning streak, Los Angeles has covered the spread and this bad Royals team isn’t the one I see ending that run. Give me the Dodgers once again in a blowout.

Oakland Athletics @ Houston Astros – 7:10PM ET

The Oakland Athletics and Houston Astros will be playing the second game of their three-game series in this one. In game one of the series, the Astros got the victory. Now they will be looking to clinch the series here in game two.

The Oakland Athletics will be looking to bounce back against the Houston Astros in game two of this series after a rough outing on Friday evening. The Athletics are in the middle of a very rough season as they come into game two of this series with a record of 41-72 through their first 113 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are all but officially eliminated from postseason play at this point as they are 31 and a half games out of first place in the American League West. 

The Houston Astros have been one of the best teams in Major League Baseball this season. They come into this game with a record of 73-41 through their first 114 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They currently hold an eleven-and-a-half-game lead over the Seattle Mariners in the American League West division heading into the middle of August. They have won six out of their last ten games of the year and come into this game on a two-game winning streak as well.

The Houston Astros needed a six-run 5th inning to rally and beat the Oakland Athletics in the opener of this weekend series that will span three games. Kyle Tucker’s grand slam was the highlight of that inning and the decisive blow that gave them the lead for the rest of the contest. Astros starter Lions Garcia allowed a lot of traffic on the bases, giving up 8 hits and four runs but thanks to the run support he was able to snap a three-game losing streak he was on.

 Houston now has a two-game lead over the New York Yankees for the top record in the American League and will look to build upon that throughout this series. Lance McCullers Jr. will be a boost to their already great pitching rotation and will make his season debut on Saturday after missing the first few months of the year with a forearm strain. This is a great first opponent to face as Oakland doesn’t possess a scary lineup at all and he should fit right in and help in the continuation of the winning ways.

Philadelphia Phillies @ New York Mets – 7:10PM ET

The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets will be playing the third game of their four-game series in this one. In game one of the series, the Phillies got the victory. Now they will be looking to clinch the series here in game three.

The Phillies score their winning run in the top of the tenth and held the New York Mets off the scoreboard in the bottom of the tenth. The win brought the Phillies record to 63-49 through their first 112 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have now won eight out of their last ten games on the season and come into this game on a two-game winning streak. 

The New York Mets will be looking to bounce back after their heartbreaking loss in game one of this weekend series. The Mets are still in a great position as they come into this game with a record of 70-43 through their first 113 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won eight out of their last ten games on the season but come into this one on a one-game losing streak. They still hold a solid lead over the rest of the National League East division at the moment.

It was a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning by Alec Bohm that went on to be the deciding play in a 2-1 victory for the Philadelphia Phillies over the New York Mets on Friday. The loss ended a six-game winning streak for the division-leading Mets who once again could not get any run support for Max Scherzer. Scherzer pitched a gem, going 7 innings and only allowing one run, but the only thing he has to show for it is a no-decision, the second in his last four starts. 

Things are going pretty well for Philly who is second in the NL wild-card race and 41-20 under interim manager Rob Thomson. Aaron Nola is set to start for Philadelphia and comes in with an 0-2 record in three starts against the Mets this season and a 3.86 ERA. He’ll be opposed by the recently returned Jacob deGrom who has historically dominated Philly, going 8-1 in his 19 career starts against them. All signs point to New York getting back on track as they still are the much better team and have a distinct pitching advantage. Give me the Mets at home to bounce back.

Jacob deGrom will start for the Mets tonight who is 1-0 for the season with a 2.53 ERA. The Mets have won 7 of the last 8 games against teams with a winning record and 42 of the last 61 home games.

The Philadelphia Phillies are third in the NL East with a 63-49 record. They have won 8 of the last 9 games and last night got back on winning tracks after losing 0-3 to Miami. The Phillies are 7th in the league scoring 4.76 runs per game and 8th in the league allowing 4.09 runs per game. Aaron Nola will be the Phillies’ starter tonight who is 8-8 for the season with a 3.17 ERA. Philadelphia has won the last 4 second games of a series and 8 of the last 10 games played on Saturday.

Minnesota Twins @ Los Angeles Angels – 9:07PM ET

The Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Angels will be playing the second game of their three-game series in this one. In game one of the series, the Twins got the victory. Now they will be looking to clinch the series here in game two.

The wind puts Minnesota five games above the 500 mark on the year as they come into game two of the series with a record of 58-53 through the first 111 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have Picked up victories in their last 10 games of the year and will be looking to clinch the series here in game two with another victory. 

The Los Angeles Angels’ struggles continued as they dropped game one of the three-game weekend series. They are now 15 games below the .500 mark and have fallen all the way down to fourth place in the American League West division. They come into game two of this series with a record of 49-64 Through their first 113 games of the  2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently 23 1/2 games out of first place and I’ve lost five out of their last 10 on the year.

The Minnesota Twins got a much-needed 4-0 shutout victory to start their series against the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night. This hopefully will turn the tide on their road struggles, as the Twins had lost six of their last seven games away from home before this one. This was the 11th time this season that the Angels were shutout this season and Patrick Sandavol was tagged with his 6th loss in his last seven starts. That’s a huge drop-off in level as he started the year 3-1 but now has not recorded a win since May 22. 

Twins starter Dylan Bundy will get the start against his former team on Saturday and be opposed by Reid Detmers who has been a lot better since a brief stint in the minors (2-0 1.16 ERA in five starts). It’s hard to take the Twins when you look at their recent road struggles but this is the perfect series to cure that as they showed yesterday and I think it just continues into the weekend against this bad Angels team.
