New York Yankees @ Detroit Tigers – 6:40PM ET

It has been a rough season for the New York Yankees and they have a tall task ahead of them if they want to get themselves back into the playoff conversation with about a month left in the year. The Yankees come into this game sitting in last place of the American League East division, and they are the only team in the division with a losing record at the moment. Injuries have really hampered their performance this season and that is something they have dealt with in the past, but this year it really has caught up to them. They come into this game with a record of 62-68 through their first 130 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. 

It hasn’t been a much better season for the Detroit Tigers either and it makes it even worse when you consider they play in the worst division in all of baseball this season. But it is also because of that reason that Detroit still find themselves within striking distance of winning the American League Central division with about a month and a half remaining in the year. They come into this game with a record of 59-71 through their first 130 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. I expect the Detroit Tigers to grab a victory in the opening game of the series at home against the New York Yankees here on Monday night as they look to continue gaining ground on the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central division.

Chicago White Sox @ Baltimore Orioles – 7:05PM ET

It has been a rough season for the Chicago White Sox and they will have a long way to go before they are a competitive baseball team once again. They will be looking to play spoilers for the remainder of the regular season when they open up this series in Baltimore at Camden Yards on Monday night. The White Sox will be looking to pick up their third consecutive victory in the opening game of the series after a successful finish to their four game weekend against the Oakland Athletics where they took the final two games to force a four-game series split. If Chicago can keep up their winning ways, they will avoid losing over 100 games this season, but they will have to win at least 11 of their last 31 games. 

It has been an incredible season for Baltimore, and they come into the opening game of the series against Chicago, holding the best record in the American League. They currently lead the American League East by a handful of games over the Tampa Bay Rays, and they will be looking to extend their lead in the division with another victory here in this game over Chicago on Monday night at home. The Orioles are currently on a one game losing streak, but they have picked up seven victories in their last 10 games of the season and they are the clear favorites coming into this series on Monday night. I expect them to pick up a comfortable victory in the opening game of the series against the Chicago White Sox at home to pick up their 82nd victory of the year.

Cleveland Guardians @ Minnesota Twins – 7:40PM ET

Cleveland comes into this game with plenty of momentum after taking two out of three games in a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays over the weekend. They will be hoping that the momentum they gained this weekend carries over into the opening game of this huge series with Minnesota on Monday night. As Cleveland will be looking to gain some ground on the Twins in the American League Central division title race. Cleveland comes into this game five games out of first place in the division end with a massive opportunity to get themselves back into the playoffs conversation with a successful performance against Minnesota during the week.

Minnesota comes into the opening game of the series on Monday night after taking three out of four games from one of the best teams in the American League over the weekend. As Minnesota made quick work of a struggling Texas Rangers team, and now they will be looking to use the momentum from that successful series to pick up some victories against Cleveland this week. This is a massive series, because it could potentially swing the pendulum in the American League Central division title race as Minnesota currently leads Cleveland by five games, coming into the opening game of the series on Monday. Unfortunately, for Minnesota I look for the Cleveland Guardians to pick up the victory in the opening game of the series at Target Field to gain another game on the Twins.

Milwaukee Brewers @ Chicago Cubs – 8:05PM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers have been playing solid baseball this season, but they will face a tough task this week against the Chicago Cubs. A few weeks ago, it looked as if Milwaukee would cruise to a National League Central division title. However, over the last two weeks, Chicago has woken up and they have been playing solid baseball, and they have chased down the Milwaukee Brewers for control of the division. Which makes this series all that more important for Milwaukee, as they look to reestablish a comfortable lead at the top of the division starting with Monday night’s game at Wrigley Field. The Brewers come into this game with a record of 73-57 through their first 130 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. 

The Chicago Cubs have made a lot of progress in their Chase for the National League Central division title but they still certainly have some work to do coming down the final stretch of the season. They could really get themselves going in the right direction with a solid performance against the Milwaukee Brewers in this series, and it starts with grabbing a victory in the opening game on Monday night at home. Chicago is currently four games out of first place in the National League Central division, but they lead the National League wild card race by a half of a game at the moment. Luckily for the Chicago Cubs, I expect them to grab the victory here on Monday night. 

Cincinnati Reds @ San Francisco Giants – 9:45PM ET

It has been an up-and-down season for the Cincinnati Reds, and they will be looking to get back on a positive trend with a victory over the San Francisco Giants in the opening game of the series. They are currently on a one game losing streak, and they have lost five out of their last 10 games on the season but they come into this game firmly in third place of the National League Central division. They are only a handful of games out of first place in both the division, and for one of the three wild card spots in the National League as well, so while there is some work to do, they are certainly in the running at the moment. 

The San Francisco Giants are having a solid season, and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling in the opening game of this series against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night at home. San Francisco comes into this game treading water above the .500 mark with 66 victories in their first 129 games of the season. They are coming off of a rough weekend against the Atlanta Braves, and they will be looking to use this series against the Cincinnati Reds to bounce back and pick up a much-needed victory here on Monday night. Unfortunately for the San Francisco Giants, I don’t see that happening as I have Graham Ashcraft pitching Cincinnati to a victory here on Monday.
