Houston Astros @ Miami Marlins – 6:40PM ET

The Houston Astros come into this game after losing on Sunday afternoon but on the bright side, they did take two out of three games from the Los Angeles Angels over the weekend. Now they will be looking to pick up a victory in the opening game of the series against the Miami Marlins on Monday night as they hit the road after wrapping up their homestand yesterday. The defending World Series champions are playing solid baseball at the moment and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling here in the opening game of the series against a struggling Marlins team. Framber Valdez is expected to get the ball in the opening game of this series on Monday night.

The Miami Marlins had a solid first half of the 2023 season but things haven’t been going their way since coming out of the All-Star break. They have fallen out of the national league playoff race at the moment, and they will be looking to regroup in the opening game of the series against the Houston Astros. They did manage to grab themselves some momentum after they walked off on the Yankees after a furious comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning on Sunday afternoon. It was their second victory of the series as they took two out of three games from the Yankees. However, I don’t look for them to grab a third consecutive victory in this one as I look for Houston to pick up the win over Miami in the opening game of the series on Monday night.

Pittsburgh Pirates @ New York Mets – 7:10PM ET

The Pittsburgh Pirates struggled against the Cincinnati Reds this weekend and they will be looking to recover in the opening game of this series against the New York Mets. Pittsburgh had an incredible start to the year and they tailed off as the season progressed. They come into the opening game of this series 53-65 throughout their first 118 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They are all but officially eliminated from the playoffs at this point and they will be looking to salvage their year and try and get themselves a winning season. Pittsburgh comes into this game as losers of five out of their last ten on the year. 

The New York Mets also had a rough weekend against the Atlanta Braves but they were able to salvage some momentum with a victory on Sunday night. Now they will continue their homestand and look to grab a series opening victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates here on Monday night. New York comes into the opening game of this series with a record of 53-65 through their first 118 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. I expect the New York Mets to grab a series opening victory 

New York Yankees @ Atlanta Braves  – 7:20PM ET

The New York Yankees had a great opportunity to take two out of three games from the Miami Marlins over the weekend. That was until they gave up five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning and lost the game on Sunday afternoon. Now they will be looking to bounce back in the opening game of this three game interleague series against the Atlanta Braves. The Yankees will be looking to grab a much needed victory in the opening game of this series on Monday night as they look to continue their late season playoff push in the American League wildcard race.  

The Atlanta Braves have a fantastic weekend against the New York Mets despite coming up short in the finale on Sunday night. They took three out of four games from the New York Mets and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling as they head home to play the other New York team in this three game interleague series. The Atlanta Braves are having an incredible season this year and they are well on their way to finishing as one of the top teams in the league as long as they remain healthy and consistent. I expect them to grab another victory in the opening game of this series against the New York Yankeees. 

Oakland Athletics @ St.Louis Cardinals – 7:45PM ET

It has been an awful year for the Oakland Athletics this season and they are on pace to finish as one of the worst single season teams in the history of Major League Baseball. They nearly had a series victory this weekend against the Washington Nationals before the Washington Nationals walked it off on them in the bottom of the ninth in two consecutive games. Oakland comes into this game with a record of 33-85 through their first 118 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They will be looking to grab a victory in the opening game of this series against the St.Louis Cardinals on Monday night. 

The St.Louis Cardinals came into the season with plenty of expectations. However, they have been incredibly underwhelming and they have performed well below expectations. The Cardinals come into this game sitting in last place of the National League Central division as they are 14 games under .500 at the moment and come into this game with a record of 52-66 through their first 118 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. However, I do expect St.Louis to grab a victory over the Oakland Athletics in the opening game of this series on Monday night at Busch Stadium. 

Arizona Diamondbacks @ Colorado Rockies – 8:40PM ET

The Arizona Diamondbacks had a solid start to the 2023 Major League Baseball season. However, they have been struggling as of late and they will be looking to get things back on track in the opening game of this series against the Colorado Rockies. Arizona is coming off of a competitive series with the San Diego Padres over the weekend where they took two out of three games from San Diego at home. Now they will head on the road and look to do the same against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field during the week. They will certainly have to play a lot better as they have lost eight of their last 10 games on the season. 

It has been a less than impressive season for the Colorado Rockies this year, and they are heading towards a losing season regardless of how they finish the year it seems like. They will be looking to avoid losing over 100 games this season and grabbing a victory in the opening game of the series against the Arizona Diamondbacks would be a step in the right direction for them. They come into the opening game of this series at home with a record of 45-73 through their first 118 games of the season. They are currently on a five game losing streak, and they have lost seven out of their last ten on year. I don’t expect it to get much better for them in this one as I have Arizona picking up the victory here on Monday.
