Cleveland Guardians @ Chicago White Sox – 7:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Cleveland Guardians got a huge victory in the opening game of their series against the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night. They jumped all over Dylan Cease early on as the first two guys reached at Steven Kwan and Andre Gimenez put together incredible games. They then held the lead throughout the game even after Jake Burger had a pair of home runs against Tanner Bibee. They have been in great four-minute is perhaps the best form of the entire regular season so far and they will be looking to grab a second consecutive victory over Chicago here on Friday night. They have picked up three victories in their last four games of the season and I will be looking to secure at least a split of this four game series on Friday.

The Chicago White Sox have underperformed this season and if they continue to lose games, they are better off throwing in the towel. It seems as if they’ve started that process when they traded away Lucas Giolito to the Los Angeles Angels late Wednesday evening. They got back two of the Angels top prospects, and it could potentially signal the beginning of a rebuilding era for the Chicago White Sox. They come into this game after losing the first game of the series against the Cleveland Guardians and they will be looking to bounce back here in game number two on Friday night. However, I don’t see that happening as I have Cleveland picking up a second consecutive victory over Chicago.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Cleveland Guardians

Milwaukee Brewers @ Atlanta Braves  – 7:20PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Milwaukee Brewers come into the opening game of the series against the Atlanta Braves on Friday night, controlling their own destiny towards a playoff appearance. They have been fighting back-and-forth with the Cincinnati Reds for the top spot in the National League Central division and at the moment the Milwaukee Brewers have a one and a half game lead over the Cincinnati Reds for first place. They come into this game with a victory in their last game and they have ten out of their last 10 games on the season as well. Eric Houser is expected to take the mound against Atlanta in this one and he will give the Brewers a decent shot at grabbing the victory.

The Atlanta Braves have been one of the hottest teams in baseball all season, and their lineup has just been crushing opposing pitching throughout the year. They will be looking to keep it going when they open up this three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers at home on Friday night. Coming into the opening game of this series Atlanta has the best record in all of Major League Baseball and they don’t show signs of slowing down anytime soon. I expect Atlanta to grab a comfortable victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in the opening game of the series on Friday night at home.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Atlanta Braves (-185)

Minnesota Twins @ Kansas City Royals – 8:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Minnesota Twins were one of the hottest teams in all of Major League Baseball coming out of the All-Star break. However, that is until they ran into the Seattle Mariners and lost a couple of games and now they are clinging onto a small lead in the American League Central division as the Cleveland Guardians are hot on their heels coming into the weekend. Minnesota will be hoping to regroup when they open up this three-game weekend series against the Kansas City Royals on the road at Kauffman Stadium. Minnesota comes into the opening game of this series with a record of 54-50 through their first 104 games of the season.

The Kansas City Royals have been one of the worst teams in baseball this season, and they are on pace to lose over 100 games if things don’t change quickly. They have been caught in an infinite rebuilding loop ever since they lifted the World Series trophy in the mid-2010s. They are currently in last place in the American League Central division as they are well out of the playoff race despite the relative weakness of the American League Central division this season. They are in awful form at the moment as they have lost eight out of their last 10 games on the year and they come into the opening game of this series on a two game losing streak. I expect their troubles to continue as I have Minnesota grabbing the victory in this game.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Minnesota Twins (-160)

Seattle Mariners @ Arizona Diamondbacks – 9:40PM ET

Tony Battalio

It is fair to say that the Seattle Mariners have been underwhelming up until this point of the season but they are starting to turn things around coming down the stretch run. They are coming off of a series victory over Minnesota where they took two out of three games from the first place Twins and now they will head south to Arizona to take on the Diamondbacks over the weekend. This will be one of their tougher tests of the season and they will have to play their best set up games on the season. They will be looking to get back to the playoffs for the second consecutive season and win 90+ games for the third consecutive season but they did not have much room for error left after their sluggish start to the year.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have been one of the better teams in baseball this season and for a majority of the year they held on the first place in the National League West. They have regressed a little bit since coming out of the All-Star break and they will be looking to bounce back when I open up the three game interleague series against the Seattle Mariners at home on Friday night. They currently find themselves seven games above .500 and in third place of the division, four games out of first place. They have a record of 54-48 through their first 102 games of the season. I look for them to grab a victory in the opening game of this series as well.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Arizona D-Backs (+115)

Boston Red Sox @ San Francisco Giants – 10:15PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Boston Red Sox coming to the opening game of the series looking to make a late season playoff push as they currently sit in fourth place in the American League East division. Despite being in fourth place of the division they are still well within striking distance of a wildcard spot in the American League as they currently have a winning record, and made a couple moves during the trade deadline to improve the roster. They come into this game with a record of 55-47 through the first 102 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They have picked up six victories in their last 10 games of the season and I have won four games in a row as well.

The San Francisco Giants are in the middle of the pack in the National League and they currently sit in second place in the National League West division. With less than 60 games remaining in their season, they will be looking to make a late season playoff push as they try to pass the Dodgers or clinch one of the three wild card spots in the National League. San Francisco comes into this game nine games above .500 at the moment with 57 victories in their first 103 games of the season. I expect them to grab another victory in the opening game of this series at home on Friday night against the Boston Red Sox.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

SF Giants (-145)
