Houston Astros @ Minnesota Twins – 4:10PM ET

The Houston Astros will be sending Jose Urquidy to the mound to try and get a victory in game number one of this three game weekend series against the Minnesota Twins. This will be the third consecutive American League Central division opponent that the Houston Astros have faced off with the season after opening up the year with the Chicago White Sox and recently finishing a series with the Detroit Tigers. This will be the first game of their three-game series and it was originally intended to be played yesterday, but it was postponed due to inclement weather. The Astros are off to a bit of a disappointing start to the season as they come into this one with only three victories in their first seven games of the year.

You couldn’t ask for a much better start to the year if you’re the Minnesota Twins as they have picked up four victories through the first six games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. After opening up the season on a six game road trip they finally returned home to Minnesota to play their home opener against the defending World Series champions. They are coming off of two consecutive losses to the Miami Marlins after starting the season undefeated with fourth straight victories, three over Kansas City and one over Miami. It will be looking to bounce back in this one but I don’t see that happening as I have the Houston Astros grabbing the victory in game one.

Kansas City Royals @ San Francisco Giants – 4:35PM ET

The Kansas City Royals are having a rough start to the season and they will be looking to turn it around against the San Francisco Giants when they travel to the West Coast to play the first game of a three-game weekend series on Thursday afternoon. The Royals come into this game only winners of one game through their first seven games of the 2023 season and they will have a long way to go if they want to make the climb back to .500 before we get too deep into the season already. They are currently on a three game losing streak and the worst part about their start to the season is all six of their losses have come inside of Kauffman Stadium. Meaning they will now have to go out on the road for the first time this season and it likely isn’t going to get much better for them throughout the year.

It’s been a somewhat average start to the season for the  San Francisco Giants as they sit at .500 through the first six games of the season. That is good enough to put them in second place of the National League West division behind the Los Angeles Dodgers after the first week of the year. Now they will be looking to rack up some wins against one of the worst teams in baseball as they open up the three game weekend series at home on Friday. It’ll be the first time they’ve played at home this season after opening the year on a six game road trip. Brad Keller will be making his second appearance of the season for Kansas City and Alex Cobb will be making his season debut for San Francisco. I have the Giants getting the win here in game one of the series.

Oakland Athletics @ Tampa Bay Rays – 6:40PM ET

Much to nobody’s surprise, the Oakland Athletics are having a terrible start to the season. They’re still struggling to draw fans of the ballpark, and a move to Las Vegas seemingly continues to become more and more likely as their struggles continue. They’ve only managed to pick up two victories in their first six games of the season and it isn’t going to get much easier for them when they travel across the country to play the Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa Bay has been one of the best teams in baseball early on in the season and Oakland has not impressed anyone just quite yet. Ken Waldichuk will be making his second appearance of the season for the Oakland Athletics in this one.

The Tampa Bay Rays come into this game as the only remaining team that is undefeated in all of Major League Baseball during the 2023 season. They have played six games so far this season, and they have picked up a victory in all six of them. It is also worth noting that all six of those victories have come by two or more runs for Tampa Bay early on in the year. But when you factor in who they’ve opened up the season against it is easy to see why. As they opened up the year against the Detroit Tigers, and then moved onto a series with the Washington Nationals and now they play the Oakland Athletics so they will likely keep that streak alive throughout the weekend. I have them getting the victory here in Game number one and covering the spread against Oakland.

San Diego Padres @ Atlanta Braves – 7:20PM ET

This four game series should provide us with one of the better match ups, and all of Major League Baseball this weekend. As two of the presumable favorites in the National League square off when the San Diego Padres make the trip cross country to play the Atlanta Braves. The first game in this series on Thursday night provided us with a solid back-and-forth matchup that ended up a 7-6 final in a one run Atlanta Braves victory. Now the San Diego Padres will be looking to even up the series here in game number two against Atlanta on Friday. Nick Martinez will be making his second appearance of the season for San Diego. 

The Atlanta Braves are off to an absolutely solid start to open up the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They have picked up six victories in their first seven games of the season and a victory in game number one of the series as well. Now they will look to pick up another victory here on Friday and clinch at least a share of the series and give themselves a better shot at winning the series throughout the weekend. Jared Schuster will be making his second appearance of the season for the Atlanta Braves in this one and the way their bats have looked, as long as he gives them five innings of solid pitching. They are likely going to grab themselves another victory in this one as well. That is why I expect Atlanta to grab the victory in game number two

Toronto Blue Jays @ Los Angeles Angels – 9:38PM ET

This one should be a good one, as it is a series that features a ton of star power with the likes of Vladimir Guerrero Junior, George, Springer, Mike Trout, and Shohei Ohtani, all sharing the same field over the weekend. As the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Angels get ready to play weekend series, that potentially could end up being a preview of the American League championship series or an American league divisional playoff series as well. Both of these teams come into this one having picked up for victories throughout their first week of the season. Chris Bassitt, and Patrick Sandoval will both be making their second appearance of the season for their respective teams as well.

The Toronto Blue Jays are coming into this series after taking three out of four from the Kansas City Royals as they are currently riding a three game winning streak after a rough start to the season. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Angels are coming into this series after taking two out of three from the Seattle Mariners. This should be a good one, as both teams are riding a solid wave of momentum coming into game number one of the series on Friday evening. With so much offensive firepower coming to the plate during this one I think this game will go over its total run line as you can expect a high scoring matchup here tonight in Los Angeles
