Charlie Blackmon will be looking to extend his 16-game on-base streak as the Colorado Rockies (22-30) host the New York Mets (27-25) at Coors Field on Saturday.
The Mets took Friday’s series opener 5-2, their second head-to-head victory in four games this season. Starter Max Scherzer got the win, giving up one run on six hits over seven innings and striking out eight, and Adam Ottavino threw 0.2 scoreless innings to pick up his fifth save.
Brandon Nimmo was 2 for 2 with two triples and three runs, walking three times, in the win. Blackmon went 2 for 4 with a solo home run for the Rockies. Ryan McMahon added a solo home run.

Justin Verlander (2-2, 3.60 ERA) is in line to get the start for New York. The RHP allowed one run over eight innings in his last start, a 2-1 home win over the Guardians on Sunday. He was credited with the win, scattering three hits while striking out five.
Right-hander Chase Anderson (0-0, 1.15 ERA) will take the mound for Colorado. It’s his first appearance of the season against the Mets. In his last start on Monday, Anderson took a no-decision at home against the Marlins. He threw 5.2 innings and gave up two runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking two in the 5-3 win.
