Jarren Duran went 2 for 4 with a triple, two runs, and one RBI in the win. Seth Brown was 1 for 2 with a home run, two runs, and two RBIs for the Athletics.
ON THE MOUND
Paul Blackburn (1-1, 4.50 ERA) is set for the start for Oakland. The RHP allowed five runs over five innings in his last start, an 8-7 road defeat against the White Sox on Sunday. He took the loss, giving up six hits while striking out five and walking four.
Blackburn is making his first appearance against the Red Sox this season. Over two starts against the Red Sox in 2022, Blackburn was 1-1 with a 4.82 ERA over 9.1 innings.
He had seven strikeouts and four walks. For Boston, LHP James Paxton (4-1, 2.70 ERA) will toe the rubber. It’s his first appearance of the season against the Athletics.
In his last start on June 30, Paxton got the win on the road against the Blue Jays. He threw 7.2 scoreless innings and gave up three hits, striking out seven and walking two in the 5-0 victory.
