Ranger Suarez (1-2, 4.70 ERA) is set to get the start for Philadelphia. The southpaw allowed one run over six innings in his last start, a 5-4 road win over the Dodgers on Friday. He yielded four hits while striking out eight and walking two in the no-decision.
Suarez has made one previous start against the Diamondbacks this season, a 6-5 home victory on May 24. He surrendered five runs on five hits over five innings, striking out five and walking one.
For Arizona, right-hander Merrill Kelly (8-3, 2.92 ERA) takes the mound. It’s his first appearance of the season against the Phillies. In his last start on Friday, Kelly got the win on the road against the Tigers.
He threw 6.1 innings and gave up three runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking two in the 11-6 triumph. The righty is tied for the NL lead in wins and is fourth in ERA.
