Kyle Freeland (4-5, 3.86 ERA) is set for the start for Colorado. The LHP allowed two runs over five innings in his last start, a 7-6 road win over the Marlins on Thursday. He scattered seven hits while striking out four and walking two in the no-decision.

Freeland has made one previous start against the Diamondbacks this season, a 9-1 home loss on April 28. He surrendered three runs on five hits over six innings, striking out three and walking one. Right-hander Zac Gallen (6-2, 2.97 ERA) will toe the rubber for Arizona. It’s his first appearance of the season against the Rockies.

Gallen made five appearances against the Rockies in 2022, all starts, striking out 35 and walking six over 31 innings (3-0, 2.90).In his last start on Wednesday, Gallen took a no-decision on the road against the Phillies.

He threw 5.2 innings and gave up two runs on five hits, striking out three and walking two in the 6-5 defeat. The right-hander is tied for the NL lead in wins.
