#11 Oregon @ #3 Georgia – 3:30PM ET

The number eleven ranked Oregon Ducks will face off with last year’s national champions, the number three ranked Georgia Bulldogs to open up the season. These two teams have met once all the way back in 1977. It was the Georgia Bulldogs who picked up the win in that game.

The Oregon Ducks will be coming into this season ranked eleventh in the nation and they will be looking to make a huge impact in game one of the season against the defending national champions, the Georgia Bulldogs. Oregon finished last season with a record of 10-4 on the year and made it to the Pac-12 championship game. However, they lost to Utah and would also go onto lose their bowl game to the Oklahoma Sooners. 

The Georgia Bulldogs are the reigning and defending national champions. They had an incredible season last year and had one of the most dominant teams in the history of college football. Georgia will be looking to start their back to back with a huge win over the Oregon Ducks as Stetson Bennett returns as quarterback. I think it will be Georgia who gets the win in this top fifteen matchup. 

#23 Cincinnati @ #19 Arkansas – 3:30PM ET

The number twenty three ranked Cincinnati Bearcats will face off with the number nineteen ranked Arkansas Razorbacks to open up the season. These two teams have never met before. Last year Cincinnati was a playoff team, while Arkansas finished 9-4 and won a bowl game.

The Cincinnati Bearcats are coming off of a playoff appearance last season. However, they lost in the semifinals to the Alabama Crimson Tide after a 13-0 season and an American Athletic Conference championship. They have the potential to make another run back to the college football playoff this season. 

The Arkansas Razorbacks will be looking to get their season off on the right foot with a top 25 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats in week one of the 2022-23 college football season. Last season was a solid year for the Razorbacks as they finished the year with a record of 9-4 on the season. However, I think it will be the Bearcats who pick up the win in this game. 

#7 Utah @ Florida – 7PM ET

The number seven ranked Utah Utes will face off with the unranked Florida Gators to open up the season. These two teams have met once all the way back in 1977. It was the Florida Gators who picked up the win in that game.

The Utah Utes had a solid year last year but it ended in disappointment after a Rose Bowl loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in what was a career making performance for Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Utah won the PAC-12 conference last season after a dominating title game performance against Oregon. I think they will be a solid team once again this season. 

The Florida Gators are looking to start their season off with a bang and a top ten win over the Utah Utes. They are coming off of a disappointing season as they finished with a record of 6-7 on the year and a bowl game loss to the Central Florida Golden Knights. Florida hasn’t won double digit games since 2019 and I don’t think they will get the opening win in this game either as I am going with Utah to get the win. 

Utah State @ #1 Alabama – 7:30PM ET

The unranked Utah State Aggies will face off with the number one ranked Alabama Crimson Tide to open up the season. These two teams have met one time. It was the Alabama Crimson Tide who picked up the win last time they met.

Utah State will be completely overmatched in this one as they are taking on the number one team in the nation, the Alabama Crimson Tide. Utah State had a decent season last year as they finished with a record of 11-3. They have already won a game this season as they beat UConn last week by a score of 31-20 at home. Now they will be looking to go 2-0 but they are severe underdogs. 

The Alabama Crimson Tide failed to win a national championship last season as they lost to the Georgia Bulldogs in the national championship game. At Alabama it is a yearly expectation to win the National Championship and that will be their goal this season as well. I think they will easily get this win against Utah State. 

#5 Notre Dame @ #2 Ohio State – 7:30PM ET

The number five ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish will face off with the number two ranked Ohio State Buckeyes to open up the season. These two teams have met six times. It was the Ohio State Buckeyes who picked up the win last time they met. As they lead the series four games to two.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have not won a big game in a long time. This will be yet another chance for the program to prove themselves and the second opportunity for them under new head coach Marcus Freeman. This is a program that has consistently won ten or more games each of the last five seasons, but they have yet to take that next big step and win when it matters the most. 

The Ohio State Buckeyes are looking to build off an incredible Rose Bowl comeback victory last season and carry the momentum into game one of this season as well. They will also be looking to do something they have not done in a while and that is beat a non conference opponent at home in a big time game. However I think they will get it done as I have Ohio State winning this game.
