The No. 13 Virginia Cavaliers (11-3, 3-2 ACC) will try to slow down one of the NCAA’s top scoring teams when they play host to the North Carolina Tar Heels (11-5, 3-2 ACC) on Tuesday. North Carolina defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 81-64 at Dean E. Smith Center on Saturday. Armando Bacot led the way with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
The Tar Heels fell to ninth in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Virginia triumphed on Saturday at John Paul Jones Arena, beating the Syracuse Orange 73-66. Armaan Franklin had 16 points to top the scoresheet. With 13 points and seven assists, Reece Beekman also impressed. The Cavaliers remain fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The teams are meeting for the only time this season. They last met in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tourney quarterfinals when the Tar Heels knocked out the Cavaliers with a 63-43 victory at Barclays Center in March 2022.

Jayden Gardner had 17 points in defeat. Bacot (17.6 ppg), Caleb Love (16.9), and RJ Davis (16.4) have led the Tar Heels in scoring this season. Bacot also has grabbed 10.5 rebounds per game, 10th-most in the country, while Davis has dished 3.4 assists per game.
Kihei Clark (11.4 ppg), Franklin (11.4), and Gardner (11.3) have supplied much of the Cavaliers’ offense. Gardner also has posted 5.3 rebounds per game, while Clark has tallied 6.3 assists per game, 10th-most in the NCAA.
The Tar Heels are one of the most explosive offenses in the NCAA, ranking 22nd with 81.4 points per game. In the last 10 games, North Carolina is 6-4 with an average margin of +6.0 (82.5-76.5). Virginia has gone 7-3 over the last 10, scoring 66.2 points per game on average while holding opponents to 59.1 (+7.1 margin).
