The No. 14 UConn Huskies (23-7, 12-7 Big East), one of the nation’s top scoring teams, travel to face the Villanova Wildcats (16-14, 10-9 Big East) on Saturday. UConn dominated the DePaul Blue Demons 88-59 at XL Center on Wednesday, their fourth straight win. Adama Sanogo was the key player with 26 points. The Huskies are fifth in the Big East Conference.
Villanova won their third in a row on Tuesday at Prudential Center, beating the Seton Hall Pirates 76-72. Justin Moore recorded 23 points to top the scoresheet. With 18 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks, Eric Dixon also had an impressive game. The Wildcats remain sixth in the Big East Conference.
The teams are meeting for the final time this season. UConn will be seeking a season sweep against Villanova after triumphing in the only prior meeting 74-66 at XL Center in December 2022. Jordan Hawkins led the Huskies with 22 points and seven rebounds. Caleb Daniels had 23 points in defeat.
The Huskies have been led this season by Sanogo and Hawkins, who are averaging 17.2 and 15.1 points per game, respectively. Sanogo also has grabbed 7.2 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Tristen Newton is dishing 4.5 assists per game.Dixon (16.0 ppg) and Daniels (14.9) have powered the Wildcats on offense.
Dixon also has posted 6.5 rebounds per game, while Daniels has tallied 2.5 assists per game. The Huskies rank as one of the most explosive offenses in the nation, 26th-best with 79.2 points per game.
