The No. 8 Arizona Wildcats (25-5, 14-5 Pac-12) and their outstanding offense are on the road to face the No. 4 UCLA Bruins (26-4, 17-2 Pac-12) and their suffocating defense on Saturday. Arizona topped the USC Trojans 87-81 at Galen Center on Thursday. Azuolas Tubelis led the way with 25 points and 10 rebounds.
The Wildcats remain second in the Pac-12 Conference. UCLA won their ninth in a row in dominant fashion on Thursday at Pauley Pavilion, beating the Arizona State Sun Devils 79-61. Jaime Jaquez Jr. had 26 points and seven rebounds, carrying the team. The Bruins remain first in the Pac-12 Conference.
It’s the final meeting of the season between the teams. Arizona will be aiming for a season sweep against UCLA after getting the win in the only earlier matchup 58-52 at McKale Memorial Center on January 21, their third straight head-to-head victory. Oumar Ballo led the Wildcats with 16 points.
Tyger Campbell had 13 points in defeat. Tubelis is averaging 19.7 points per game to lead the Wildcats in scoring this season. Tubelis also has grabbed 9.1 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Kerr Kriisa is dishing 5.4 assists.
Jaquez Jr. (17.3 ppg) has powered the Bruins’ offense. Jaquez Jr. also has pulled down 7.9 rebounds per game. Campbell has doled out 4.7 assists per game.
