The North Carolina Tar Heels (16-9, 8-6 ACC) will try to slow down one of the country’s top scoring teams when they welcome the No. 19 Miami (FL) Hurricanes (20-5, 11-4 ACC) on Monday.
Miami (FL) beat the Louisville Cardinals 93-85 at Watsco Center on Saturday, their fourth consecutive win. Nijel Pack was the scoring leader with 22 points. Norchad Omier added 21 points and seven rebounds. The Hurricanes are third in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
North Carolina won in dominating fashion on Saturday at Dean E. Smith Center, beating the Clemson Tigers 91-71. Caleb Love had 23 points to lead the team. The Tar Heels dropped to eighth in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
This marks the only meeting of the season between the teams. Miami (FL) took the only game between the teams last season 85-57 at Watsco Center in January 2022.
Isaiah Wong led the Hurricanes with 25 points, while Kameron McGusty was a key contributor with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Armando Bacot had 15 points and 12 rebounds in defeat.
Wong (16.2 ppg), Jordan Miller (14.7), and Omier (14.1) have led the Hurricanes in scoring this season. Omier also has grabbed 10.0 rebounds per game, while Wong has dished 3.5 assists per game. Bacot (16.9 ppg), Love (16.8), and RJ Davis (15.8) have powered the Tar Heels on offense.
Bacot also has posted 10.8 rebounds per game, seventh-most in the country, while Davis has recorded 3.4 assists per game. The Hurricanes are averaging 79.0 points per game, ranking as one of the highest-scoring offenses in the nation (29th).
