The No. 19 Iowa State Cyclones (16-8, 7-5 Big 12) host the No. 22 TCU Horned Frogs (17-8, 6-6 Big 12) Wednesday in a game that may see lower point totals.
TCU lost to the Baylor Bears 72-68 at Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena on Saturday, their third consecutive loss. Damion Baugh led the way in defeat with 16 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds.
The Horned Frogs remain seventh in the Big 12 Conference. Iowa State dropped their last game on Saturday at James H. Hilton Coliseum, falling to the Oklahoma State Cowboys 64-56.
Aljaz Kunc topped the scoresheet in defeat with 13 points. With 12 points and six rebounds, Tamin Lipsey also played a part. The Cyclones remain fifth in the Big 12 Conference.
This is the last meeting of the season between the teams. Iowa State will be pursuing a season sweep against TCU after coming out on top in the only previous meeting 69-67 at Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena on January 7. Gabe Kalscheur led the Cyclones with 15 points. Mike Miles Jr. had 18 points in the loss.
Miles Jr. and Emanuel Miller, averaging 13.0 and 11.4 points per game, respectively, are leading the Horned Frogs in scoring this season. Miller also has grabbed 5.6 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, Baugh is dishing 4.2 assists per game.Jaren Holmes and Kalscheur have powered the Cyclones’ offense, averaging 13.5 and 12.7 points per game, respectively.
Osun Osunniyi is averaging 4.1 rebounds per game, and Lipsey is doling out 4.7 assists. The Cyclones and the Horned Frogs rank as two of the strongest defenses in the nation, 15th and 24th in defensive efficiency, respectively. The Horned Frogs are 4-6 in their last 10 games at James H. Hilton Coliseum.
TCU is 4-6 in the last 10 games with an average margin of +1.7 (73.6-71.9). For the season, the Horned Frogs are averaging 76.2 points per game, compared to 66.8 for opponents.
