The Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks (3-6) will try to overcome one of the NCAA’s top scoring defenses when they head to face the No. 15 Duke Blue Devils (9-2, 1-0 ACC) on Saturday. Maryland Eastern Shore was defeated by the George Mason Patriots 67-54 at EagleBank Arena on Tuesday, their sixth consecutive loss away from home. With 12 points, Kevon Voyles was the top scorer in defeat.
Duke won their third in a row on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden, beating the Iowa Hawkeyes 74-62. Jeremy Roach topped the scoresheet with 22 points. With 17 points, Mark Mitchell also produced a strong performance.
The Hawks have been led this season by Zion Styles and Da’Shawn Phillip, who are averaging 11.1 and 9.8 points per game, respectively. Meanwhile, Nathaniel Pollard Jr. is grabbing 7.1 rebounds per game, and Donchevell Nugent is dishing 2.1 assists.
Kyle Filipowski and Roach have been the primary providers of the Blue Devils’ offense, averaging 14.9 and 13.1 points per game, respectively. Filipowski also has posted 9.3 rebounds per game, while Roach has doled out 3.6 assists per game.
