The Los Angeles Clippers (7-6, 4-2 Away), one of the NBA’s top shooting defenses, are on the road to face the Houston Rockets (2-11, 1-2 Home) on Monday. Los Angeles lost to the Brooklyn Nets 110-95 at Crypto.com Arena on Saturday.
Paul George was the top scorer in the losing effort with 17 points. Norman Powell chipped in with 16 points. The Clippers are the seventh seed in the Western Conference. Houston dropped their last game on Saturday at Smoothie King Center, falling to the New Orleans Pelicans 119-106.
Jalen Green had 33 points and six assists in the loss to lead the team. The Rockets are 15th in the Western Conference. This marks the last meeting of the season between the teams. Los Angeles will be looking for a season sweep against Houston after triumphing in both of their earlier meetings, the last of which was a 109-101 victory at Toyota Center on November 2, their fifth straight head-to-head victory.
George led the Clippers with 28 points, while Marcus Morris Sr. played a key role with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Alperen Sengun had 26 points and 13 rebounds in the losing effort. The Clips have been led this season by George, who is averaging 24.7 points per game, best in the NBA.
Meanwhile, Ivica Zubac is grabbing 11.2 rebounds per game, most in the league, and John Wall is dishing 5.1 assists (1st). Green and Kevin Porter Jr. have supplied much of the Rockets’ offense, averaging 21.8 and 19.2 points per game, respectively. Green leads the league in scoring, while Porter Jr. is first.
Porter Jr. also has recorded 5.8 assists per game, most in the NBA. Sengun has pulled down 9.1 rebounds per game. Opponents are shooting 44.9% from the field against the Clippers, ranking as one of the toughest FG% defenses in the NBA (4th).
