UFC Best Bets For UFC 289
Fri 9th June 2023

Read on below to find out UFC Best Bets for this weekend’s UFC 289!

Amanda Nunes ©  vs Irene Aldana – Women’s Bantamweight Title Fight

Amanda Nunes is the current UFC Bantamweight champion and she is one of the most dominant champions in the history of the UFC. She will be looking to add another victory to her impressive title reign against Irene Aldana here at UFC 289 on Saturday night. Nunes comes into this fight with a career overall record of 22-5 in 27 career professional fights, and she is currently on a one-fight winning streak after she regained her title from Juliana Pena at UFC 277. She was originally supposed to have her third consecutive fight against Pena in this one but that didn’t come to fruition. Now Nunes will be looking to defeat this talented veteran here on Saturday.

Irene Aldana comes into this fight looking to dethrone Amanda Nunes and pick up her first championship title in her UFC career. She comes into this fight with a career overall record of 14-6 in twenty career professional fights. She is currently on a two-fight win streak and both of those victories came by knockout. Both of those fights also came at Catchweight. I expect Aldana to put up a solid fight in this one but no one at the moment can keep up with Nunes. I expect her to win this fight by knockout during the middle rounds. As I look for Aldana to show a lot of heart in this one but come up short.

SportsTips’ UFC Pick:

Nunes (-350) By KO (-140)

Charles Oliveira vs Beneil Dariush – Lightweight

Charles Oliveira has proven to be one of the most dependable and solid fights in the UFC over the last couple of years. He comes into this fight with a career overall record of 33-9 in 43 career professional fights. The majority of those victories have come by submission, as he currently has 21 victories via submission in his lengthy and legendary career. Nine of his victories have come via knockout, which shows he can either submit or knock out his opponent and he isn’t just a one-trick pony. Oliveira comes into this fight on a one-fight losing streak after losing his last fight to Islam Makhachev via submission. Before that loss, he was on a 11-fight winning streak and he will be looking to get back to his winning ways in this one.

Beneil Dariush comes into this fight looking to pick up a massive upset victory over Charles Oliveira in this fight on Saturday evening. They were originally supposed to fight last month at UFC 288 before the fight was canceled and rescheduled for UFC 289. He comes into this fight with a career overall record of 22-4-1 in 27 career professional fights. He is currently on an eight-fight winning streak and he hasn’t lost since 2018. However, he still comes into this fight as the underdog in this one against Oliveira. Unfortunately for Dariush, I don’t see him picking up the victory in this fight, as I expect Oliveira to win via submission.

SportsTips’ UFC Pick:

Oliveira (+125) By Sub (+200)

Dan Ige vs Nate Landwehr – Featherweight

Dan Ige comes into this Featherweight fight looking to pick up a huge victory over Nate Landwehr in this fight on Saturday night. He comes into this fight with a record of 16-6 in 22 career professional fights and he will be looking to pick up victory number seventeen here on Saturday. He is currently on a one-fight winning streak, and he will be looking to grab his second consecutive victory here on Saturday night. He is an all-around fighter and his win distribution is pretty split down the middle as well. Five of his victories have come by knockout while five have come by submission and sixth have come by decision.

Nate Landwehr comes into this fight looking to grab a huge upset over Dan Ige here on Saturday evening. He comes into this fight on a three-fight winning streak, and he has had some bad luck as of late with getting fights canceled so he will be thrilled to step into the octagon here this weekend. He has had 21 career professional fights under his belt and he has picked up 17 victories in that period. He will be looking to pick up the 18th victory of his career here in this fight on Saturday evening. He is a knockout specialist as eight of his 17 victories have come by knockout while seven of them have come by decision. He does have the ability to submit opponents, but it does not happen often. How he finishes fights I don’t see him finishing this fight as I have Dan Ige grabbing the victory by decision.

SportsTips’ UFC Pick:

Ige (-250) By Dec (+180)
