We are now into the final at the French Open and boy this game is going to be a cracker! The world #1 Świątek is through to the final match, after she knocked out Russian Kasatkina in two quick sets. Her opponent will be our very own Gauff, who also made quick work of her semifinal opponent, Trevisan, in straight sets.

Enjoy our free tennis picks and predictions for each round of the 2022 French Open tournament.

Iga Świątek (1) vs Coco Gauff (18)

The world #1, Iga Świątek, has successfully dispatched six opponents and just one more remains in her way, American Coco Gauff. Świątek has had a fairly easy run to the final here at the French Open, only dropping one set along the way. It is a similar story for Gauff, although she actually is yet to drop a set.

Iga Swiatek is dominating women tennis at the moment and it will be a miracle if Coco Gauff manages to hold her back off winning her second title at the French Open. The world no. 1 is currently on a 34-game winning streak. The last time the 20-year-old Swiatek lost a match was in February in Dubai and she hasn’t lost a set in 21 of her last 23 matches. Swiatek had no trouble in the semifinals, losing only three games against Daria Kasatkina. Previously, she defeated Jessica Pegula, Qinwen Zheng (the only opponent who won a set against Swiatek), Danka Kovinic, Alison Riske and Lesya Tsurenko. Swiatek is 43-3 for the season and 15-0 on clay. She has won 5 titles so far this season. Swiatek has won both matches against Gauff so far. It was 6-3, 6-1 earlier this year in Miami and 7-6, 6-3 in Rome last year.

Coco Gauff has just turned 18 a couple of months ago and here she is, in her first career Grand Slam final. The American has played well so far in the tournament winning all six matches without dropping a single set. She is coming off a 6-3, 6-1 win over Martina Trevisan in the semifinals. Previously, she defeated Sloane Stephens, Elise Mertens, Kaia Kanepi, Alison Van Uytvanck and Rebecca Marino. Gauff is currently 23rd in the WTA standings, and is 20-10 for the season and 10-3 on clay.

Marko’s French Open Pick: Set Betting – Swiatek 2-0 (-220)

Considering the depth of talent in the WTA, this year’s French Open has had a rare sense of inevitability about it. Many predicted that world number one Iga Swiatek would continue her great season and win her second French Open title. The number one seed hasn’t disappointed. Swiatek headed to Paris looking to not only capture her sixth consecutive title, but to also set a new record for consecutive unbeaten matches. True to form, Swiatek has swept all before her. Swiatek and Gauff have squared off just twice in their relatively young careers and it’s Swiatek who leads the head to head 2-0. Swiatek crushed Gauff when the two met in March winning 6-3, 6-1. The Polish superstar has now gone 34 matches unbeaten and will be confident that her run will extend to 35. If she wins on Saturday she will dislodge Serena Williams and become the all time record holder for consecutive wins. Despite being up and around the top 20 for a few seasons now, it’s easy to forget that Gauff is still just 18 years old. Ever since her breakthrough three years ago, it’s been apparent that Gauff was heading straight to the top.

Whilst some would have expected Gauff to have made her Grand Slam breakthrough sooner, it now looks like Gauff has the game and mentality to consistently contend for the game’s top honors. Yet to drop a set, the draw has opened up nicely for the young American but she has still had to beat some wily clay court campaigners. Gauff has the game perfectly suited to clay. She has the weight of shot to trouble her opponents but is also an incredible mover. Arguably the best athlete on the WTA Tour, getting the ball past Gauff is no easy feat, and this is where this match will be won and lost. Swiatek will start as the heavy favorite and if she can control the tempo of the rallies, this match could be over in a flash. However, if Gauff’s athleticism can force errors from Swiatek, this really is a match that could go either way. Gauff is yet to win a set against Swiatek, but that will change here. Swiatek should have enough quality to win her second Grand Slam title but the victory will come over three closely fought sets.

Jack’s French Open Pick: Set Betting – Swiatek 2-1 (+310)
