Top Premier League Predictions for Game Week 36

Top Premier League Predictions for Game Week 36
Tue 11th May 2021

We are now less than two weeks from the season’s climax, and while Manchester City may have the title locked up, the race to secure European football next season is well and truly on.

Manchester United vs Leicester City

Tuesday, May 11th, 1.00 PM (EDT)

To the frustration of Manchester City, United came back from behind against Aston Villa over the weekend to delay the crowning of the Premier League champions for a few more days.

It was an all too familiar scenario when United played Villa, with the Red Devils conceding first to a sickeningly good strike from Villa’s, Bertrand Traore, entering the second half trailing by a goal.

It took just 7 minutes from the reset for United to level the score thanks to an ever-clinical effort by Bruno Fernandes from the spot, and just 4 minutes later Mason Greenwood rifled home another to claim the lead for the first time.

Edinson Cavani put the game to bed in the 87th minute with a headed effort straight from the Uruguayan strikers’ playbook, and the Red Devils won their Premier League leading, 9th game after conceding the first goal.

They welcome the Foxes to Old Trafford today, who are coming into this one following the most crushing defeat of their campaign, a 4-2 loss to the Toons on home soil which sees them slip down to 4th place, putting their top 4 finish in jeopardy.

After a disappointing 1-1 draw to the Saints the week before, many are wondering if Leicester are capable of bottling a Champions League finish for a second straight year.

The Foxes sit 5 points clear of West Ham in fourth, however, looking ahead they face potentially the worst run of fixtures of any upper table side, with league games against Chelsea and Spurs to play, on top of their F.A Cup final against the Blues over the weekend.

When these two met in the reverse fixture the Foxes salvaged a point through a late Axel Tuanzebe own goal, today they have the advantage of playing against a tired United squad, but given the quality of the Solskjaer’s squad we believe the Red Devils will do enough to claim the 3 points at home.

EPL Prediction: Manchester United (+155)
Best Prop: Over 2.5 Goals (-102)

Chelsea vs Arsenal

Wednesday, May 12th, 3.15 PM (EDT)

Gameweek 36 treats us to a clash between Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, and Mikel Arteta’s Gunners. The North West London Derby has seen the two sides meet 208 times over the years, with Arsenal claiming the bulk of the wins with 79 to Chelsea’s 65, with the points shared on 58 occasions.

The Gunners have had the better of the Blues the last two times they met, most recently winning the reverse fixture 3-1, however, the Chelsea of last year and the Chelsea of now are polar opposite teams.

Chelsea have enjoyed a renaissance under Thomas Tuchel, the former PSG coach has taken the Blues to a Champion’s League Final, an F.A Cup final, and is on track for a top 4 finish in the league, all in just 25 games as gaffer, only 2 of which he has lost.

Having just beaten their fellow Champions League Finalists, Manchester City, away from home, in the dying seconds of their league clash over the weekend, the Blues will be brimming with confidence upon their return to Stamford Bridge.

Following their disgraceful departure from the Europa League last week, the Gunners got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over the already relegated West Bromwich Albion, however, 1 good performance every few games is far from the form needed to take down this unstoppable Chelsea outfit, we can see this one getting ugly for Arsenal.

EPL Prediction: Chelsea (-145)
Best Prop: Chelsea / Win to Nil (+158)
