Free FIFA World Cup Picks Today for Round of 16 on Sunday, December 4th, 2022
Sat 3rd December 2022

Well, haven’t there been a few surprises so far at the World Cup! It is the second of four days of action throughout the Round of 16. The next matches will be filled with so much action as we see each country give it their all. The four teams that will be playing today include France against Poland, as well as England against Senegal.

There is so much action to be had over the Round of 16, as 16 teams fight for the chance to make it to the Quarter Finals. Which teams will put their best foot forward and make it through to the next round?

Look below to find our free soccer picks for all the games on today’s FIFA World Cup schedule!

France vs Poland – 10AM ET

The defending champions, France, will look to progress through to the Quarter Finals, but Poland is standing in their way. France finished top of Group D with six points, and their three previous games ended in two wins, then a loss. Poland finished in second place in Group C with four points, and they had a mixed bag in their first three games at the World Cup, which included a draw, win, then a loss.

The defending World Cup champions France will be looking to continue their quest to go back-to-back against Poland. This should be more competitive than some people will think as Poland certainly has enough fire power up front to get the job done, especially if Robert Lewandowski is feeling himself in this one. Mbappe as usual will be the key in this one for the French, as they look to keep rolling in this World Cup.

Both of these teams put together some solid performances in their three matches throughout the Group Stage to get here. France finished the Group Stage with a record of 2-1-0 and only really lost in their third and final game when they tested all of their starters against Tunisia. Meanwhile Poland finished the Group Stage with a record of 1-1-1 after nearly missing out on the knockout stages. I have the French getting the win in this one.

France (-800)

France, the reigning World Champion, has had an impressive showing in the tournament. Led by the absolute world superstar, Kylian Mbappe, this French side strikes fear in the hearts of the opponents. The French national team is a perfect mix of experience and know-how with mesmerizing young talent. In the Group Stage, they absolutely demolished the Aussies 4-1. The game against Denmark was a lot more competitive, but Mbappe was the difference maker, and France won. In the last match, France had already qualified for the Round of 16, and they could afford to make changes to the team. With a well-rested and ready-to-go French team, this will be a long night for the Polish side.

Poland has had a mediocre World Cup performance and is arguably the worst team remaining in the competition. I expect them to sit deep and try to defend with all they have. However, they completely lack quality in the attacking third, and they have looked toothless. I expect this match to be a one-sided street with France constantly attacking. It would take nothing less than a miracle for Poland to go through. France wins.

France came into the World Cup as the defending champion but at the same time, they didn’t play very well this season. To make the doubters even louder, five players were injured and left out of Didier Deschamps’ roster including the Ballon d’Or winner, Karim Benzema. However, France is still a contender to lift the trophy at the end and their journey through the elimination phase is starting with the game against Poland.

Poland somehow sneaked into the last 16 even though they didn’t show much in the Group Stage. It is safe to say that goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has been the best Polish player so far in the tournament and he will need to be on top of his game to give his team a chance against France. Poland does not have players that will be able to hold the ball against France so they will seek an opportunity from fast breaks. France will dominate the possession and even though they will not go in full attacking mode, they will still score a couple of times and win this game in regulation.

France (-800)

England vs Senegal – 2PM ET

The second and final game on the FIFA World Cup schedule today will see England face off against Senegal. England finished in first place of Group B with seven points, and their first three games resulted in a win, draw and then another win. Senegal finished in second place of Group A, as they had six points, and their first three games ended in a loss, then back-to-back wins.

The English looked solid during the majority of their Group Stage games. Now they will look to bring it home for the first time in nearly sixty years when they kickoff against Senegal on Sunday afternoon. They will need to clean up the slight mistakes they did make in the Group Stage and get their attacking trio figured out if they want to make a deep run in this tournament.

Senegal played inspired soccer during their Group Stage run of the 2022 World Cup. They played with heart and earned their way through to the knockout stages. Now they will be looking to advance to the quarterfinals and upset this heavily favored England side in this Round of 16 game. I expect more than a few goals to be scored in this game and I’m taking the over with this one.

Tony’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Over Goals – 2.5 (+115)

England is one of the favorites to win this competition. However, their performance has fluctuated, and they haven’t been consistent. Their manager, Gareth Southgate, will have some decisions to make picking the team for the match against Senegal. The English nation has rioted for Phil Foden to be on the field. He finally got the chance to play against the national team of Wales and was fantastic. Will Southgate stick with Foden, or will he go back to Sterling, who has been mediocre in the past several months, and this World Cup? England’s captain Harry Kane carries a knock to his ankle from the Group Stage and will probably be diminished.

Senegal is the African champion, a proud and experienced team who will be looking to upset the favorites. Senegal is a battle-tested, mentally tough side that won’t bow down to anyone. I fully expect this to be a close and tight game. Senegal’s best player and leader, Sadio Mane, will be missed in this game, as England will try to have the ball, and Senegal will try to hurt them with counter-attacks. I could see an upset happening in this game. However, I would rather take the under 2.5 goals bet.

Aleksandar’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Under Goals – 2.5 (-159)

England is one of the favorites who actually met the expectations in the Group Stage of the World Cup. The feeling is that they played just enough to go through and now it is time for the real thing. England had a couple of heart-breaking exits at the last two major competitions and they are a better team by learning from those experiences. Unlike England, Senegal had to fight to go through until the last minute of the Group Stage, but they deserve all the respect moving forward without their best player Sadio Mane.

Senegal will have no other choice but to defend in this game. Their midfield is not fond of keeping the ball in their own possession, so Senegal will be the team who will try to keep a clean sheet and maybe take the game to extra time. England will play their game with a lot of running but they will also be patient and wait for the right opportunity. Given that, this will be a low-scoring game regardless of the offensive potential England possess but at the end, England will find a way to win.

Marko’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Under Goals – 2.5 (-159)
