Free FIFA World Cup Picks Today for Friday, December 2nd, 2022
Fri 2nd December 2022

Millions around the world will be glued to their TV screens when the action heats up at the World Cup. Each team now only has one more game to play in the Group Stage. So, who can dominate in their final game, to ensure they book a spot in the Round of 16? The action so far has been gripping, and we are certain to be in store for some more excitement today!

There is so much action to be had over the Group Stage, as 32 teams fight for the chance to make it to the Round of 16. There are eight groups in total with four teams in each group, and only the top two will make it through to the next round. Which teams will put their best foot forward and make it through to the next round?

Look below to find our free soccer picks for all the games on today’s FIFA World Cup schedule!

South Korea vs Portugal – 10AM ET

South Korea and Portugal play their last game of the Group Stage on Friday morning. Portugal has already booked their spot in the Round of 16, no matter the outcome of this match. South Korea are currently sitting in third place in Group H, and they would need a win here as well as other results to go their way.

Tony Battalio

South Korea comes into this game needing a huge victory to advance to the Round of 16. However, it is very unlikely that we are going to see that happen as they would have to beat a Portugal team that has looked great so far during this World Cup. The one thing that might help them is the fact that Portugal has already qualified for the Round of 16 and then could likely rest their starters for this game. They will also need to find a way to manufacture goals in this one as well.

Portugal has looked solid throughout their first two Group Stage games and now they will be looking to complete the 3-0-0 Group Stage before advancing to the knockout rounds of the 2022 World Cup. They have had no problem manufacturing goals as they have already scored five goals in this tournament alone. What is perhaps more unlikely is the majority of them have not come from Ronaldo. I have Portugal winning this game and sending South Korea home.

Tony’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Portugal (-128)

After the 0-0 snooze fest against Uruguay, South Korea played fun and exciting football against Ghana. The South Koreans left it all on the field and were unlucky to walk away with a 3-2 loss. We could all see the tears in the eyes of the players as the game finished. The chances of South Korea qualifying for the Round of 16 are pretty slim. They will have to beat the European giants, Portugal, who come as one of the favorites to win the competition, to have any hope of moving forward. To top it all on, if the result of the game Ghana versus Uruguay goes against them, they will drop out of the competition anyway.

With two wins in the first two rounds, Portugal has already qualified for the Round of 16. Portugal hasn’t performed as well as they would have liked in the competition, so I believe they will use this game to continue to play their first-team squad and try to work on their overall playing style. I expect them to come to this match sharp and focused, and to win this game by a landslide. Portugal wins, and Ronaldo scores a goal or two.

Portugal is already through to the elimination phase of the tournament after the wins over Ghana and Uruguay. It is South Korea that needs to chase the victory in this game. They have only one point after the first two games and are facing a tough challenge, as they need to defeat Portugal to have a chance to advance. That scenario sounds pretty unbelievable but there are many factors that actually can go in their way.

South Korea will definitely be more motivated than Portugal, they have defeated them in their only previous game, and we already have seen many upsets in this tournament, so anything is possible. On the other hand, regardless of the fact that Portugal is already focused on the Round of 16l, the players who will get a chance to play in this game are still good enough to defeat South Korea. Taking all these circumstances into consideration, this will be an open game in which both teams will score.

Marko’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Both Teams Score (-120)

Ghana vs Uruguay – 10AM ET

Ghana will be looking to get the win in this clash against Uruguay, and if they do, they punch their ticket for the next round. Uruguay are not completely out of it yet, but they would need a big win here to help their goal differential, as well as other results to fall their way.

Tony Battalio

Ghana needs to grab a win in this one to punch their ticket to the Round of 16. They could still potentially top the group but it would be an absolute longshot for them to do that, so a second place finish for them would still be ideal as it would get them through. They will likely be able to get through with a draw as well, unless South Korea shocks Portugal by more than a few goals. Ghana have had no problem manufacturing goals in this tournament but they have had a problem defending their goal.

Uruguay isn’t completely eliminated from the tournament but they still have a solid opportunity to make it through, although they would need some help as well. They have struggled throughout the Group Stage thus far. They come into this game with only a single point after their first two games. They would need to win this one and avoid South Korea drawing or beating Portugal to get through. However, I don’t even think they will win this game.

Tony’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Ghana (+360)

Ghana is a strong, athletic, well-coached team with exciting players. In the last match against South Korea, the national team of Ghana showed its attacking capabilities, scoring three outstanding goals. Thomas Partey, one of Arsenal’s best players, will try to dictate the game for his team once again. A win or a draw sends Ghana to the next round, so I expect them to play conservatively, and stay tight and compact for most of the game. Lamptey is one of the fastest players in the World Cup and will be the main attacking threat to the opposition.

Uruguay finds itself on the brink of elimination. Uruguay has yet to score a goal in this World Cup, quite surprisingly. The squad features some of the best attackers in this generation, Luis Suarez, Edinson Cavani, and Liverpool’s 100 million dollar prospect, Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan team looks old. Their midfield is often overrun, despite having one of the best midfielders in the world, Real Madrid’s Valverde. Uruguay is a proud World Cup nation. I believe they will come to this match fired up and will get a positive result. Uruguay wins, finally.

Uruguay (-137)

Ghana and Uruguay have built a fierce rivalry based on just one game. Luis Suarez’s hand move is still remembered and by many considered one of the most unsportsmanlike moves in World Cup history. However, Suarez was a hero in his country and Uruguay still hopes that he will be the player to get them past Ghana one more time. Uruguay has been one of the biggest disappointments so far in the competition as they failed to score in the two opening games and has only one point going into the third round.

Only a win is an option for Uruguay to keep their chance for the next phase, but Ghana is also confident in their abilities. Ghana showed more in the first two games, being a much better opponent against Portugal. Given the odds, Uruguay is a major favorite in this game but Ghana will find a way to stay undefeated or maybe even win to advance to the next round. They have a reliable defense and a much better momentum. All that with the will to avenge the 2010 loss will earn them at least a point in this game.

Marko’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Ghana or Draw (+105)

Serbia vs Switzerland – 2PM ET

Serbia and Switzerland will play each other in their last game of the Group Stage, with Serbia sitting in fourth place and Switzerland in second place. A win or even a draw may very well be enough to see Switzerland through to the next round. But for Serbia it’s win or go home, and even then it might not be enough, depending on the result of the other match in Group G.

Tony Battalio

Serbia not only needs to win this matchup but they will also need some help from the other game after a terrible showing through the first two games of this year’s World Cup Group Stage. Heading into their third and final Group Stage game they have only managed to pick up a single point. They have looked terrible on the defensive end of the field as they are giving up an average of two and a half goals per game as well, which is something they will have to fix in this one if they want to advance.

The Swiss are in a great position heading into this third and final Group Stage game. They currently sit in second place in Group G and will likely only need a draw to advance into the knockout stages of the 2022 World Cup. Unless they absolutely wax Serbia and Brazil loses or is limited on scoring, it is unlikely that they will top the group so they will likely be settling for second place. I think they pick up the win easily in this game and move into the next round.

This match is the derby of the day. Serbia and Switzerland are well known to each other and have been in this situation before. Emotions will be running high, and the winner takes it all. Serbia versus Switzerland will be an outstanding game to watch for neutral fans. The Serbian and the Switzerland national team hardly like each other at all. There will be a lot of tackles flying around and fights on the field. Serbia wasn’t able to hold on to the 3-1 lead against Cameroon, so now is in a difficult position. They must win this game against Switzerland to have any chance of advancing to the Round of 16.

Switzerland has acquired three points so far and sits in second place in the group. A draw might be enough to send them to the knockout stages of the competition, depending on the result of the Brazil against Cameroon game. Switzerland is an experienced, battle-tested squad that will try to turn this game into a tactical battle. I expect to see many tackles and fouls in the middle of the field, and there shouldn’t be a lot of goal-scoring opportunities. Any team can win this game, but the under 2.5 goals option seems to be the logical bet.

Aleksandar’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Under Goals – 2.5 (-133)

This is one of the most anticipated games of the third round of the Group Stage at the World Cup. Serbia is going into this game with a must-win attitude, trying not just to make up for the draw against Cameroon but also for the loss to Switzerland four years ago in Russia. Serbia has quality individuals that do not always play well together. Manager Dragan Stojkovic has no other choice but to go in offensive mode in this game, starting more than just one striker which was the case in the previous two games.

Aleksandar Mitrovic had plenty of scoring opportunities in the previous game and scored only one goal. Dusan Vlahovic will start in this game and he will probably be the man to change things up for Serbia. Switzerland has a good team as well, and will be able to defend most of the time. However, one brilliant move by the Serbian side will make the difference and Serbia will win this one to advance to the next stage.

Serbia (+155)

Cameroon vs Brazil – 2PM ET

Cameroon will be trying to cause a massive upset here against the Brazilian team. Brazil are already confirmed for the next round, with six points. However, Cameroon will need a win if they want a chance to stay in the World Cup, and they also need other results to be kind to them.

Tony Battalio

Cameroon will need to pull a massive upset in this game to get into the Round of 16. It is absolutely a win or go home game for them in this one because with any other result they will be heading home. They haven’t looked up to the task in their first two games of the Group Stage as they have been very suspect on the defensive end. They haven’t had much of a problem scoring goals, but if they don’t clean up their defensive work they stand zero chance in this game.

Brazil is the clear odds on favorite in this tournament at the moment and they have looked solid throughout the first two Group Stage games. The only problem is they now are going to be without their best attacker as Neymar is expected to miss some time with an injury. It shouldn’t have much effect on them in this game as they have already punched their ticket into the next round and likely won’t need him back until the Round of 16 next week. I have them getting a win in this game with mostly backups playing for them.

Tony’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Brazil (-250)

Cameroon has left me baffled in this tournament so far. In the first game, they played amazingly, yet they ended up with a 1-0 loss against Switzerland. In the second game, they played terribly yet ended up with a positive result, a 3-3 draw against Serbia. The problems in their locker room were made public as their first-team goalkeeper, Onana, left the World Cup. That had a massive effect on their defensive shape, and they looked all out of sorts against Serbia. If they can’t fix those problems, Brazil’s superstar attacking players will have a field day.

Brazil has already qualified for the Round of 16 with two great wins against two decent opponents. They have had the best defense in the World Cup and have yet to allow a goal past them. However, Danilo and Alex Sandro, who played a massive role as full-backs, have suffered an injury, and they won’t be able to play in this game. How will that affect the balance of the team, and can the Cameroonians exploit that? Brazil will want to enter the Round of 16 with confidence, so they will be looking to win this match. I expect to see some player changes, but that won’t affect the result. Brazil wins.

Brazil (-250)

Brazil has proved its class in the first two games and why would they stop for the third? Brazil is already through to the elimination phase, but they are playing for much more than that. They literally have no need to win in this one but knowing their reputation and their losses in the last two decades, they will not slow down even for a second. Brazil’s manager Tite has a roster full of stars and he will be able to play some of those who didn’t see much of a chance in the first two games.

If you think that will lower Brazil’s chance in this game, you are completely wrong. Truth is that Cameroon has to win this game to advance, but the reality is that they simply have no quality to do that. Cameroon scored 3 goals against Serbia which keeps them alive but Brazil will not give them any chance. This will be another show time performance by Brazil who will end up winning this game easily.

Marko’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Brazil (-250)
