The 2021 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs are in full swing! With just the one game on the agenda today we have had plenty of time to research the fixture in depth and bring you the absolute best predictions. Have a read below for all our NHL picks.
Boston Bruins @ New York Islanders (Round 2 – Game 6) – 7.30 PM EDT
The Bruins have found themselves on the brink of a playoff exit following their crushing 5-4 defeat in Boston on Monday. On the other side of the coin are the Islanders, who return to the Nassau Coliseum in a bid to take the series down and qualify for their second consecutive Conference Final against the Lightning.
Monday’s 9 goal thriller was the highest scoreline of the series, with both teams converting in each period of the game. It took just over a minute for David Pastrnak to claim the lead for the Bruins, but back to back powerplay goals from Mathew Barzal and Kyle Palmieri saw the lead switch early in the second.
Brad Marchand wasn’t far behind, burying his 6th goal of the postseason to tie the score up, however, things didn’t stay even for long, as the Islanders went on to score the next 3 goals unanswered to take a commanding lead.
The Bruins converted with the man advantage to bring the deficit back to 2 goals, and didn’t take their feet off the gas, burying another goal with 5 minutes to play. Fortunately a well timed timeout from Barry Trotz allowed the Islanders to level their heads enough to keep the Bruins at bay until the final whistle.

The Islanders did well to pull off the win considering they were outshot by 19-44, owing much of the victory to a lousy showing in net from Tuukka Rask, who saved just 12 of 16 shots before being pulled in favour of Jeremy Swayman.
With their biggest win of the postseason secured the Islanders now get the chance to close the series out in front of the fans in New York, and given how vocal their supporters are, and how well they have performed on the island this year it is difficult not to back them to progress today.
