New Jersey Devils @ Buffalo Sabres – 1:00 PM ET

New Jersey lost to Philadelphia on Thursday, their second straight loss to the Flyers. That moved the Devils to 3-3-1 on the season. They have allowed 19 goals while scoring 15. Their -4 goal differential is the second worst in the division. Goal scoring has been a major issue for New Jersey.

The most they have scored in any game this season is four, and have been held under three goals five times this year. Jack Hughes leads the team in scoring with seven points. His three goals also lead the team. The goaltending has been solid, but has been betrayed by the offense. McKenzie Blackwood has a 1.89 GAA and Scott Wedgwood has a 2.81.

Buffalo lost to the New York Rangers on Thursday in overtime, 3-2. That moved the Sabres to 3-3-2, fifth in the East Division. The team has scored 23 goals while allowing 24. With the exception of the two games played in Philadelphia on January 18-19, Buffalo has been in a number of very close games.

Five of their other six games have been decided by one goal with the other decided by two. Jack Eichel leads the team in scoring with nine points. Carter Hutton (2.65 GAA) and Linus Ulmark (2.51) have been solid in net.

Toronto Maple Leafs @ Edmonton Oilers – 7:00 PM ET

Mitchell Marner continues to lead the team in scoring, leading in goals (5), assists (8), and total points (13). Auston Matthews also has five goals and has nine points total. Frederik Andersen stopped 26 of 29 shots in the victory over the Oilers. He is now 5-2-0 with a 2.87 GAA and a .896 save percentage.

He now has a 3.50 GAA and a .895 save percentage. The Edmonton netminder has started all nine games this season. Leon Draisaitl had two goals on Thursday and Connor McDavid added two assists. McDavid leads the team with 14 points with Draisaitl right behind at 13. Draisaitl leads the team with six goals.

NHL Pick – Toronto Maple Leafs (-125)
Spread Pick – Edmonton Oilers +1.5 (-349)
Total Goals Pick – Under 6.5 (-115)

Pittsburgh Penguins @ New York Rangers – 7:00 PM ET

Pittsburgh lost to Boston on Thursday for the second straight time, 4-1. That dropped the Penguins to 4-3-1. They have scored 24 goals while allowing 30, giving them a -6 goal differential, worst in the division. Pittsburgh looked like they were getting on a bit of a roll when they had won four straight games heading into this two-game series.

However, they scored just three goals against the Bruins in the two games. Sidney Crosby leads the team in scoring, but with just seven points (3G, 4A). Casey DeSmith has been the better of the two netminders, posting a 2.76 GAA and a .871 save percentage.

New York defeated Buffalo in overtime on Thursday, 3-2. Alexis Lafreniere scored the game-winner just under three minutes into overtime moving New York to 2-4-1. They have scored 18 goals while allowing 20.

The Rangers have received some pretty good goaltending this year from Alexandar Georgiev (2.66 GAA) and Igor Shesterkin (2.73), however, the offense is not supported by their netminders. Artemi Panarin leads the team with eight points. New York has scored three goals in every game but one this year.

NHL Pick – New York Rangers (-110)
Spread Pick – New York Rangers +1.5 (-286)
Totals Goals Pick – Over 6.0 (-110)

New York Islanders @ Philadelphia Flyers – 7:00 PM ET

New York lost to Washington on Thursday, 6-3, their third straight defeat. That dropped the Islanders to 3-4-0. They have received superior goaltending this year, allowing just 17 goals, but have scored only 14.

They did show some improvement in this area against Washington, netting five goals in the two games, however, they received their worst goaltending performance of the season in the series as well, allowing nine goals.

After recording shutouts in his first two starts, Semyon Varlamov is starting to return to earth. He has allowed nine goals in his last three starts, giving him a 1.82 GAA. Mathew Barzal leads the team in scoring with seven points and is the goal scoring leader with three.

Philadelphia swept New Jersey in their two-game series, winning on Thursday, 3-1. That moved the Flyers to 5-2-1, tied with Boston for second place in the division. They have scored 28 goals while allowing 26.

Brian Elliott has been great in net for Philadelphia, posting a 1.97 GAA, but it has been Carter Hart who has received the bulk of the work. Hart has a 3.60 GAA and a .896 save percentage in six starts. Five players on the Flyers have at least eight points already, led by Jakub Voracek with nine. Both James van Riemsdkyk and Travis Konecny have scored five goals.

NHL Pick – Philadelphia Flyers (-120)

Totals Goals Pick – Under 5.5 (-115)

Boston Bruins @ Washington Capitals – 7:00 PM ET

Halak now has a 1.30 GAA, but has made just three starts this season. It has been Tuukka Rask (2.13) who has seen the bulk of the work.

Boston has been led in scoring by Brad Marchand with 10 points. Patrice Bergeron leads the team in goals with five. The victory over Pittsburgh moved to Boston to 5-1-1, tied for second in the East Division. They have scored 22 goals while allowing 13 and their +9 goal differential is tops in the division.

Washington defeated Buffalo on Thursday, 6-3. Conor Sheary has led the way with two goals and they were his first goals of the year. Nicklas Backstrom had two assists, giving him 10 points, tops on the Capitals.

John Carlson is second with nine points. Vitek Vanecek has started six games this season and has a 2.75 GAA. Washington is 5-0-3 this year, giving them at least one point in every game they have played. They have scored 31 goals while allowing 26.

NHL Pick – Washington Capitals (+145)
Spread Pick- Washington Capitals +1.5 (-417)
Totals Goals Pick – Over 5.5 (-115)

Dallas Stars @ Carolina Hurricanes – 7:00 PM ET

The Dallas Stars are the hottest team in the NHL, winning all four contests since finally taking to the ice. The team did not play their first game until January 22, but have dominated opponents, outscoring them 19-6. Amazingly, with just four games under their belt they have the best goal differential in the NHL (+13).

Everything about Dallas has been spectacular, starting with goaltender Anton Khudobin who has a 0.99 GAA and a .958 save percentage. He has started three games and has allowed just three goals in that span.

Scoring has not been an issue for the Stars either. They already have three players with at least seven points, including Joe Pavelski with nine. Pavelski leads the team in goals with four and is tied for the team lead in assists with five.

Like Dallas, Carolina has not played many games this season. They also have taken to the ice for just four contests, but are 3-1-0 in those games. The Hurricanes have scored 10 goals while allowing six.

They defeated Tampa Bay on Thursday, 1-0 in overtime. Goaltending has been just as spectacular for Carolina, especially Petr Mrazek who has a 1.00 GAA and a .955 save percentage. The Hurricanes netminder has two shutouts already this season. Andrei Svechnikov leads the team in scoring with three goals and five points.

NHL Pick – Dallas Stars (+105)
Spread Pick- Dallas Stars +1.5 (-267)
Totals Goals Pick – Under 5.5 (-115)

Nashville Predators @ Tampa Bay Lightning – 7:00 PM ET

After losing three straight games, Nashville has won their last two, defeating the Chicago Blackhawks in both instances, including in a shootout on Wednesday, 2-1. Juuse Saros was brilliant, stopping 29 of 30 shots. He now has a .918 save percentage in a 2.54 GAA and five starts the season.

He may have very well taken the No. 1 goaltending duties away from All-Star Pekka Rinne. Filip Forsberg leads the team in goals with four but has lit the lamp just one time in his last four games. Nashville is 4-3-0, scoring 17 goals while allowing 20.

Tampa Bay lost to Carolina on Thursday, 1-0 in overtime. Andrei Vasailevskiy was outstanding in goal for the Lightning, stopping 34 of 35 shots. He just received no offensive support.

The Tampa Bay goaltender has started all five games, posting a 1.98 GAA and a .932 save percentage. Steven Stamkos leads the team in scoring with six goals. Tampa Bay is now 3-1-1. They have scored 15 goals while allowing 11.

NHL Pick – Nashville Predators (+150)
Spread Pick – Nashville Predators +1.5 (-175)
Totals Goals Pick – Under 5.5 (+100)

Florida Panthers @ Detroit Red Wings – 7:00 PM ET

Florida saw their three-game winning streak come to an end when they lost to Columbus on Thursday in a shootout, 3-2. The Panthers got solid goaltending out of Chris Driedger, who stopped 29 of 31 shots. Dreidger (1.92, .934) has split time with Sergei Bobrovsky (3.35, .879), but may have earned himself the top spot.

Florida is led in scoring by Carter Verhaeghe who has six points, including four goals. Patric Hornqvist also has four goals. Florida is 3-0-1, one of just three teams to record points in every game they have played the season. They have scored 16 goals while allowing 12.

Detroit enters this contest at 2-5-1, allowing 29 goals while scoring 16. Their goal differential is the second worst in the NHL (-13). Detroit was hammered by Dallas on Thursday, 7-3. It was the fourth straight loss by the team.

Goaltending has been a major issue. Thomas Greiss (3.04, .899) and Jonathan Bernier (3.54, .881) have been mediocre to say the least. Each has allowed 13 goals this season.

Unfortunately, the offense has not been able to make up for the shortcomings of their goaltenders, as Tyler Bertuzzi and Dylan Larkin lead the team in scoring with six points each.

NHL Pick – Florida Panthers (-175)
Spread Pick – Florida Panthers -1.5 (+348)
Totals Goals Pick – Over 6.0 (-110)

Calgary Flames @ Montréal Canadiens – 7:00 PM ET

Calgary lost to Montréal on Thursday, 4-2, suffering their third straight loss. That dropped the Flames to 2-3-1. They have scored 18 goals while allowing 17. The Flames have kept things close, as three of their four losses have come by a single goal and one by two.

Jacob Markstrom has started five of the team’s six games and has been solid in net, posting a 2.62 GAA and a .911 save percentage. Johnny Gaudreau leads the team in scoring with eight points and his four goals also lead the team. Sean Monahan has five assists to lead the club and seven points overall.

With the victory over Calgary on Thursday, Montréal is flying high. They have earned points in six straight games (5-0-1), and are now 5-0-2 on the season, one of four teams to record at least one point in every game they have played this season.

Montréal has been a scoring machine, recording 33 goals and their +13 goal differential is tied for the best in the league. The Canadians have 10 players with at least five points already, led by Tyler Toffoli who leads the team in goals (6) and total points (9). Carey Price is getting back to his usual form, posting a 2.92 GAA and a .898 save percentage in five starts.

NHL Pick – Montréal Canadiens (-130)
Spread Pick – Montréal Canadiens -1.5 (+192)
Totals Goals Pick – Over 6.0 (-105)

Colorado shutout San Jose on Thursday, 3-0. That moved the Avalanche to 5-3-0, tied with Minnesota for second in the West Division. The team has scored 28 goals while allowing 18, giving them the top goal differential in the division (+10).

Philip Grubauer had another spectacular outing, stopping all 21 shots he faced. That was the second shutout of the season for the Colorado netminder, who has a 1.86 GAA and a .928 save percentage in seven starts the season. The Avalanche are led in scoring by Nathan MacKinnon who has 10 points. Cale Makar is second on the team in points with nine, all of them assists.

Minnesota is also coming off a victory, defeating the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday, 5-3. They are now 5-3-0, scoring 24 goals while allowing 20. Three players are tied for the team lead in scoring with seven points each.

Joel Eriksson leads the team in goals with five. Kirill Kaprizov has two goals and five assists and Jordan Greenway leads the team with six assists. Minnesota is getting solid goaltending from the duo of Cam Talbot (2.34, .925) and Kaapo Kähkönen (2.40 (.917).

Spread Pick – Minnesota Wild +1.5 (-431)
Totals Goals Pick – Under 5.5 (-105)

St. Louis Blues @ Anaheim Ducks – 9:00 PM ET

St. Louis had their last contest postponed, but were victorious over Vegas on Tuesday, 5-4, winning in a shootout. That moved the Blues to 4-2-1. However, they have a -5 goal differential, scoring 22 goals while allowing 27. Jordan Binnington has been solid in net with a 2.74 GAA and a .913 save percentage.

However, his backup has been a disaster and shall go nameless. Jordan Kyrou leads the team in scoring with seven points and there are three behind him with six points each. That includes Brayden Schenn who leads the team with four goals.

Anaheim lost to Arizona on Thursday, 3-2. That moved the Ducks to 3-3-2. As it has been for the last few seasons, goal scoring has been an issue as this team has just 14 goals while allowing 17.

John Gibson has been great in net, posting a 1.87 GAA and a .942 save percentage in seven starts. He already has two shutouts. However, the point leader is Max Comtois, who has just four. His three goals lead the team as well. In fact, of the teams 14 goals, nine have come from just four players.

NHL Pick – Anaheim Ducks (+150)
Spread Pick – Anaheim Ducks +1.5 (-532)
Totals Goals Pick – Under 5.5 (-130)

Vancouver Canucks @ Winnipeg Jets – 10:00 PM ET

The suddenly red-hot Vancouver Canucks won their third straight game on Thursday, defeating the Ottawa Senators for the third straight time, 4-1. Vancouver allowed just one goal in each of the three contests.

Braden Holtby was the star on Thursday, stopping 36 of 37 shots. Brock Boeser had two goals and an assist to lead the Vancouver offense. Holtby now has a 3.17 GAA and a .906 save percentage. Thatcher Demko has a 3.65 GAA and a .909 save percentage.

The Canucks are led in scoring by Quinn Hughes with 11 points and he leads the team with 10 assists. Boeser is the leading goal scorer (6) and Bo Horvat is second on the team in points with 10. Vancouver is 5-5-0, scoring 36 goals and allowing 36 goals. Both of those numbers are the most in the NHL.

Winnipeg defeated Edmonton on Tuesday, 6-4. That moved the Jets to 5-2-0. They are tied with Vancouver for third place in the division, but have played three less games. Winnipeg has scored 28 goals while allowing 21.

The +7 goal differential is the second best in the division. Winnipeg is getting great goaltending from Connor Hellebuyck with a 2.60 GAA and a .906 save percentage. Nikolaj Ehlers leads the team in scoring with 11 points and in goals with five.
