Philadelphia defeated New York on Wednesday, 4-3. Claude Giroux recorded three assists and Brian Elliott stopped 24 of 27 shots. The Flyers are now 9-4-3 and are 3-2-1 on the road. Carter Hart is expected to be in goal on Saturday.

Hart has started 11 games with a 3.68 GAA and a .891 save percentage. He was rocked in his last start, giving up six goals on 23 shots and has allowed at least four goals in three of his last four starts. James van Riemsdyk recorded his team-leading ninth goal in the victory.

Buffalo lost in overtime to New Jersey on Thursday, 4-3. The Sabres are 6-8-3 overall and are 2-5-2 at home. The Sabres are 2-1-1 in their last four games. Sam Reinhart recorded his team-leading seventh goal in the loss. He is second on the team with 14 points. Linus Ullmark is expected to get the start. He has started 12 games with a 2.44 GAA and a .919 save percentage.

Washington Capitals @ New Jersey Devils – 1:00 PM ET

Washington defeated Pittsburgh on Thursday, 5-2. They are now 4-1-1 over their last six games, moving them to 10-5-4 overall. After Pittsburgh delivered back-to-back goals to tie the score, Washington responded with three unanswered tallies for the victory. Nicklas Backstrom and Lars Eller each had a goal and an assist. Backstrom now leads the team with 24 points overall. Vitek Vanecek has started 16 games for Washington and has a 2.86 GAA and a .909 save percentage.

New Jersey defeated Buffalo in overtime on Thursday, 4-3. That snapped a three-game losing streak for the Devils. New Jersey is 7-6-2, but have not performed well at home this season at 2-4-1. Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 29 of 32 shots in the victory and Pavel Zacha scored a goal and added two assists. Blackwood now has a 2.34 GAA and a .932 save percentage in eight starts. Zacha is now the team leader in points for New Jersey with 12.

Calgary Flames @ Ottawa Senators – 1:00 PM ET

Calgary loss to Ottawa on Thursday, 6-1. They are now 1-4-1 in their last six games, dropping them to 9-10-2. David Rittich started in net and was rocked, allowing four goals on 20 shots before leaving halfway through the contest. With No. 1 netminder Jacob Markstrom questionable for Saturday, Rittich may be back between the pipes. He has appeared in eight games with a 2.74 GAA and a .906 save percentage.

Matt Murray was fantastic for Ottawa in the victory, stopping 29 of 30 shots. Colin White scored two goals to help lead the offense. Ottawa has now won three games in a row, moving to 7-14-1. Murray has been showing significant improvement, holding teams to two goals or fewer in three of his last five starts. He now has a 3.48 GAA and a .888 save percentage. Brady Tkachuk leads Ottawa in goals with eight and points with 15.

Joonas Korpisalo played well in the contest, stopping 25 of 26 shots. It will likely be Elvis Merzlikins on Saturday. He has appeared in nine games with a 2.81 GAA and a .917 save percentage. Columbus is led in scoring by cam Atkinson and Oliver Bjorkstrand who each have 16 points.

Nashville lost to Detroit on Thursday, 5-2. The Predators are 8-11-0 with a -18 goal differential. Pekka Rinne stopped 27 of 31 shots in the loss. He now has a goals-against average of 2.52 and a save percentage of .911 in 12 appearances. Mikael Granlund added his fourth goal of the season and now has nine points, tied for third on the team.

Toronto Maple Leafs @ Edmonton Oilers – 7:00 PM ET

Toronto has been outstanding on the road this season at 6-1-1. Michael Hutchinson stopped 21 of 22 shots. It will be Frederik Andersen in net on Saturday. Andersen has a 2.69 GAA and a .905 save percentage in 16 starts. Auston Matthews added two assists in the victory, giving him a team-leading 31 points.

Edmonton defeated Vancouver on Thursday, 3-0. That was the Oilers fifth straight victory, moving them to 14-8-0 with a +14 goal differential. Mike Smith stopped all 32 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season. It will likely be Mikko Koskinen between the pipes on Saturday. He has a 3.26 GAA and a .901 save percentage in 15 appearances. Connor McDavid added a goal and an assist to give him 40 points, tops in the NHL.

He has started 15 games and has an impressive 2.06 GAA and a .928 save percentage. Mathew Barzal and Anders Lee each had a goal and an assist. Barzal leads the team with 17 points while Lee leads New York in goals with nine.

Tampa Bay defeated Carolina on Thursday, 3-1, their third straight victory over the Hurricanes. Tampa Bay is now 13-4-1 with a +25 goal differential, tops in the NHL. Curtis McElhinney stopped 31 of 32 shots for Tampa Bay and Brayden Point added an assist, giving him 18 points, second on the team. Andrei Vasilevskiy will be in net on Saturday. He has started 15 games with a 1.87 GAA and a .935 save percentage.

Bobrovsky has a 3.06 GAA and a .97 save percentage and nine starts. Florida has eight players with at least 10 points, led by Jonathan Huberdeau with 23.

Detroit Red Wings @ Chicago Blackhawks  – 8:00 PM ET

Sam Gagner scored a hat trick in the victory over Nashville, his first three goals of the season. Bobby Ryan added two assists and is now tied for the team lead in points with 11. Jonathan Bernier made 37 saves. He now has a 2.59 GAA and a .918 save percentage intent appearances.

Chicago defeated Columbus on Thursday, 2-0. They finished their five-game road trip 4-1-0, giving the Blackhawks an 11-6-4 record. Malcolm Subban stopped all 26 shots he faced, and Patrick Kane scored the 399th goal of his career. Kane now has 31 points. He has been on fire of late, recording at least one in four straight games, nine points during that span. Kevin Lankinen has started 14 games and has a 2.59 GAA and a .921 Senate.

Los Angeles Kings @ Minnesota Wild – 8:00 PM ET

These teams face each other Friday night, but this preview was written prior to the conclusion of that contest.

The Los Angeles Kings have won six straight games after defeating St. Louis on Wednesday, 2-1. Calvin Petersen stopped 35 of 36 shots. It is expected to be Jonathan Quick on Friday. Quick has a 2.82 GAA and a .903 save percentage in nine starts, but he has allowed just two goals over his last three starts. Dustin Brown scored his team-leading 11th goal of the season in the victory over St. Louis. Los Angeles is now 9-6-3.

Minnesota is also playing exceptionally well.  They defeated Colorado on Wednesday, 6-2 for their fourth straight victory. Kaapo Kahkonen stopped 30 of 32 shots. He has started the last four games for Minnesota and has allowed six total goals. Kahkonen has a 2.37 GAA and a .917 save percentage in 11 games. Nicco Sturm scored his first two goals of the season in the victory and Kirill Kaprizov added two assists, giving him a team-leading 15 points. Minnesota is 10-6-0.

Colorado lost to Minnesota on Wednesday, 6-2. Philipp Grubauer had his worst start of the season, allowing five goals on 24 shots. Grubauer has started 14 games with a 2.01 GAA and a .923 save percentage. J.T. Compher scored his second goal of the season in the loss to Minnesota. He continues a disappointing downward trajectory going from 16 goals in 2018-19. Colorado is 9-6-1.

Arizona defeated Anaheim in a shootout on Wednesday, 4-3. Phil Kessel had a goal and an assist in the victory. Darcy Kuemper started the game but came out after allowing three goals on 21 shots. Kuemper now has a 2.41 GAA and a .913 save percentage in 16 appearances. Kessel in four straight games and is third on Arizona with 14 points. The Coyotes are 9-7-3.

It looks like netminder John Gibson is wearing down, allowing at least three goals in the last four games. He now has a 2.67 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 16 starts. Anaheim is last in the NHL in goals scored per game average.
