We have passed the half-way mark in the 2021-22 NHL season, so the team here at SportsTips thought it would be a good idea to take a closer look at all the NHL odds for each team!

We are 4 months into the 2021-22 National Hockey League season and there have been some disappointments and surprises along the way. Now as the second half of the season gets underway, it is time to revisit the preseason odds for the Stanley Cup trophy and compare them to where some of these teams are sitting at now with around 40 or less games left before the Stanley Cup Playoffs kick off. 

Colorado Avalanche

Preseason Odds: (+550)
Current Odds: (+450)
Odds Change: (-100)

The Avalanche have been the safest bet all season long. As they are the best team in the league this season, despite the fact that it took them a few weeks to kick into gear. 

Tampa Bay Lightning 

Preseason Odds: (+650)
Current Odds: (+750)
Odds Change: (+100)

The two time defending Stanley Cup champions have had their sights set on a third straight title all season long. Their recent play has shown that they are still very capable of playing at a high level without getting complacent. 

Vegas Golden Knights 

Preseason Odds: (+700)
Current Odds: (+800)
Odds Change: (+100)


The Vegas Golden Knights have been steady all season long but recently have hit a funk. They are a safer bet with a slight amount of risk at the moment due to their recent play and weaker division. 

Toronto Maple Leafs 

Preseason Odds: (+1100)
Current Odds: (+1000)
Odds Change: (-100)

Toronto has been playing well as of late but they still don’t seem to be a favorite in many people’s minds. While they carry more of a risk, it is always fun to jump on a Canadian team trying to bring lord Stanley back home. 

Boston Bruins 

Preseason Odds: (+1400)
Current Odds: (+2500)
Odds Change: (+1100)

The Boston Bruins have performed well below the expectations that were set for them in the preseason. As of right now this bet seems like nothing more than throwing money down the drain, as they may miss the playoffs entirely.

New York Islanders 

Preseason Odds: (+1500)
Current Odds: (+7000)
Odds Change: (+5500)

The Islanders have been the biggest flop of the season in terms of preseason odds. They are one of the worst teams in the National Hockey League so far this year. 

Florida Panthers 

Preseason Odds: (+1900)
Current Odds: (+800)
Odds Change: (-1100)


If you got this one in the off-season compared to now, you certainly got a steal. As the Florida Panthers have been hot this year and have become one of the favorites to win it all. 

Pittsburgh Penguins 

Preseason Odds: (+2200)
Current Odds: (+1600)
Odds Change: (-600)

The Penguins have been good and surprised a lot of people this season. Preseason betters sure got a good one with these odds, but not many would have predicted the Pens would play so well.

Carolina Hurricanes 

Preseason Odds: (+2300)
Current Odds: (+1000)
Odds Change: (-1300)

The Hurricanes have tore through everything in their path on the way to becoming a Stanley Cup contender this season. A once longshot bet has turned into pocket change. 

Washington Capitals

Preseason Odds: (+2400)
Current Odds: (+3000)
Odds Change: (+600)

The Capitals have been somewhat underwhelming only a few years removed from a championship win. Their lack of success at this point in the season makes this a good bet, if they can get hot at the right time. 

New York Rangers 

Preseason Odds: (+2400)
Current Odds: (+2000)
Odds Change: (-400)


The Rangers have been many people’s shock of the season thus far. However, there is still a lot of work to be done if they want to lift the trophy this season. 

Minnesota Wild 

Preseason Odds: (+2500)
Current Odds: (+1800)
Odds Change: (-700)

The Wild have been a bit up and down throughout the season. However, if they can hit a stride they are capable of winning it all this year. 

Dallas Stars 

Preseason Odds: (+2900)
Current Odds: (+5000)
Odds Change: (+2100)

Dallas is a huge risk, that in my opinion won’t pay off. While it seems worth it, they will likely end up missing the playoffs entirely this season playing in the Central Division.

Philadelphia Flyers 

Preseason Odds: (+3100)
Current Odds: (+30000)
Odds Change: (+26900)

Philadelphia has been a massive disappointment this season. What seemed like a hopeful wager in October is now basically just a free money envelope to Vegas, as the Flyers won’t be involved in the postseason it looks like.

Edmonton Oilers

Preseason Odds: (+3100)
Current Odds: (+3000)
Odds Change: (-100)


Edmonton should be better than they are this season. However, with the two best players in the world, they are still a serious title threat if they catch fire at the right time, and with favorable odds I consider this a steal. 

St. Louis Blues 

Preseason Odds: (+4100)
Current Odds: (+2500)
Odds Change: (-1600)

The Blues have been better than expected this season. However, this bet can turn out to be very valuable still if they find a rhythm they are more than capable of lifting the trophy. 

Chicago Blackhawks 

Preseason Odds: (+4100)
Current Odds: (+30000)
Odds Change: (+25900)

Chicago started out the season in a major slump. Which has rendered this bet useless at this point as they won’t be making the playoffs without a miracle. 

Winnipeg Jets 

Preseason Odds: (+4100)
Current Odds: (+10000)
Odds Change: (+5900)

The Jets have had a rough go of things so far this year. If they managed to sneak into the playoffs, this bet could always be a longshot in the end, but I wouldn’t recommend it. 

Calgary Flames 

Preseason Odds: (+4800)
Current Odds: (+1600)
Odds Change: (-3200)


The Flames have been the surprise of the 2021-22 season. As they have put themselves firmly into the title picture with half of the year to go. It is best to grab this bet now before the odds continue to improve. 

Seattle Kraken

Preseason Odds: (+4800)
Current Odds: (+30000)
Odds Change: (+25200)

NHL expansion team lightning couldn’t strike twice for the Seattle Kraken. As they have been one of the worst teams in the league in their debut season. 

New Jersey Devils 

Preseason Odds: (+4800)
Current Odds: (+30000)
Odds Change: (+25200)

The Devils have struggled all season long, playing themselves towards the bottom of the league. They didn’t quite live up to expectations and will miss the postseason without a miracle occurring. 

Montreal Canadiens

Preseason Odds: (+5000)
Current Odds: (+30000)
Odds Change: (+25000)

Montreal has been one of the worst teams in the league this season. They were a longshot before the year began and they have lived up to that prediction as they are already virtually eliminated.

Vancouver Canucks 

Preseason Odds: (+7000)
Current Odds: (+13000)
Odds Change: (+6000)


Vancouver has played better than expected, but they still aren’t as good as they’d like to be. They won’t be participating in the Stanley Cup playoffs this season barring some type of miraculous recovery. 

San Jose Sharks 

Preseason Odds: (+8500)
Current Odds: (+13000)
Odds Change: (+4500)

San Jose has been an up and down team all season long. They have failed to generate any kind of momentum and it will likely result in them missing the playoffs this year or sneaking in due to a weak division and earning a first round exit.

Los Angeles Kings 

Preseason Odds: (+8500)
Current Odds: (+4000)
Odds Change: (-4500)

The Los Angeles Kings are a decent team this season. If they can catch fire towards the end of the year they are very capable of making a deep playoff run in 2022.

Nashville Predators 

Preseason Odds: (+8500)
Current Odds: (+2500)
Odds Change: (-6000)

The Nashville Predators would’ve been a steal in the preseason. As they’ve played great hockey all season long and still present a valuable bet at this point in time.

Detroit Red Wings 

Preseason Odds: (+10000)
Current Odds: (+30000)
Odds Change: (+20000)


Detroit was a long shot to start the year and they are an even longer shot now. As they look to still be stuck in a rebuild with a long way to go. 

Ottawa Senators 

Preseason Odds: (+10000)
Current Odds: (+30000)
Odds Change: (+20000)

Ottawa has been one of the worst teams in the league this season. They look to be stuck in a deep rebuild as well. 

Arizona Coyotes 

Preseason Odds: (+10000)
Current Odds: (+30000)
Odds Change: (+20000)

The Arizona Coyotes problems extend way beyond the ice. They have been the worst of the worst this year and that is likely to continue for another half decade or longer. 

Anaheim Ducks 

Preseason Odds: (+10000)
Current Odds: (+10000)
Odds Change: (-)

It’s been an up and down season for the Ducks. They have had lengthy winning and losing streaks and they are still in a position to make the playoffs. A couple of bucks could make this bet worth it but no more than five at the most in my opinion.  

Columbus Blue Jackets 

Preseason Odds: (+15000)
Current Odds: (+30000)
Odds Change: (+15000)


The Columbus Blue Jackets are a season or two away at best. This team has shown flashes and I think they are on the verge of breaking out soon.

Buffalo Sabres 

Preseason Odds: (+15000)
Current Odds: (+30000)
Odds Change: (+15000)

The Sabres shocked everyone with a fast start, before falling back down the standings. Now without Jack Eichel Buffalo looks to be starting over from square one next year.
