2022 NFL Draft: Updated Predictions for the Top 3 Picks

Wed 27th April 2022

For the second season in a row the Jacksonville Jaguars possess the number one pick in the National Football League draft. In last year’s draft they selected former Clemson Quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Now in this year’s draft they have the option to either go with an offensive tackle or an edge rusher based on the odds.

The second pick in the draft is going to the Detroit Lions. There have been many questions about who they are going to go with in this draft but a lot of the signs are pointing towards the offensive line. There is also the possibility that they could go the quarterback route. Detroit is a franchise that has been towards the bottom of the National Football League for a while and they are hoping that this pick helps them turn it around.

The number three pick belongs to the Houston Texans and they are certainly going with the offensive line I have to imagine. That is where a guy like Ikem Ekwonu comes into the picture at the number three spot. He would be a great player for the Texans to protect Davis Mills.

Ikem Ekwonu (OT) North Carolina State

Ekwonu had a great career at North Carolina State, and now he will be looking to make the jump to the National Football League. He would be a great pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars to help protect their former number one overall pick at quarterback Trevor Lawrence. He fits the bill as far as dominant offensive lineman stand as he is six feet four inches tall and weighs in at 310 pounds. He has a wingspan of 84 ¼, and 10 ¼ inch hands. He really improved his draft stock over the course of the 2021-22 college football season and made himself into a household name. He has quickly risen up the draft boards and has some real potential to be selected as the number one pick in the 2022 National Football League draft.

Odds To Be The #1 Pick: (+500)

Aidan Hutchinson (EDGE) Michigan

Aidan Hutchinson is built to be a monster at the National Football League level. He had a fantastic career at the University Of Michigan. He stands at six feet seven inches tall and weighs 260 pounds. He ran a 4.7 in the 40 yard dash at the 2022 NFL combine. He is going to be an immediate starter regardless of where he ends up in the league. He finished his career in Ann Arbor with a career total of 14 sacks and over 150 tackles. He finished runner up in the Heisman trophy race in 2021 as well. I think Hutchinson is going to be a generational type of talent at the Defensive End position.

Odds To Be The #1 Pick: (+300)

Trayvon Walker (EDGE) Georgia

Walker is another guy at the Defensive End position who I think could be a generational player. He was great at the University Of Georgia as he was the star on a team that went on to win the National Championship in 2021-22. He finished his career in Athens with career totals of 9.5 sacks, 61 tackles, and 13 tackles for loss. He played in 29 games over the course of his three-year career. He is the type of guy in my opinion who will come right into a team and help win some games.

Odds To Be The #1 Pick: (-300)
