NFL Odds: Undefeated Steelers vs Winless Jets

NFL Odds: Undefeated Steelers vs Winless Jets
Wed 25th November 2020

The New York Jets are on track to become just the third team in NFL history to go winless through a 16-game season. On the flip side of that, the Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves as the lone undefeated team in the National Football League, and are on their way to becoming just the second 16-0 team in NFL history.

Here’s how both the Steelers and the Jets are shaping up for the final six weeks of the 2020 regular season:

Pittsburgh Steelers (10-0)

Super Bowl Odds: +550
Week 12 SportsTips Power Ranking: 1

Since the start of the Super Bowl era, 16 teams have begun a season with 10 straight wins. As a result of Pittsburgh’s 27-3 win over the Jaguars this past weekend, the 2020 Steelers became the 17th 10-0 team in NFL history. Pittsburgh are currently +500 to remain undefeated this season, ahead of their Week 12 Thanksgiving matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Steelers are in the bottom half of the NFL in both rushing and passing yards, however they possess one of the most dominant scoring defenses in the league. If the Steelers can beat the Ravens on Thanksgiving and advance to 11-0, their undefeated odds will drop significantly. However with a Week 14 match in Buffalo and Week 16 match vs the Colts, the Steelers won’t be favoured to complete their perfect 16-0 season until their Week 17 match in Cleveland, if they can make it that far.

Remaining Schedule:
Week 12: vs Ravens
Week 13: vs Washington
Week 14: at Bills
Week 15: at Bengals
Week 16: vs Colts
Week 17: at Browns

New York Jets (0-10)

Super Bowl Odds: +200000
Week 12 SportsTips Power Ranking: 32

Following their six point loss to the Chargers in Week 11, the New York Jets have officially been eliminated from 2020 playoff contention, as they now look to avoid joining the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns as the only 0-16 teams in NFL history. To put things into perspective, in the Jets 10 losses this season their opponents have outscored them by 153 points. No other team in the NFL has a negative differential that is over 100.

The Jets are terrible on both sides of the ball, ranking last in points scored while also giving up the second-most points in the NFL. Currently with odds of +180 to remain winless this season, the Jets next five games are against likely playoff teams, with their sixth and final game for the season coming against the Patriots at Foxborough in Week 16. As it stands, the Jets will likely be 0-15 ahead of their matchup against Bill Bellchick at home in the final game of the season. A tough ask for what will likely be Adam Gase’s last game as head coach in New York.

Remaining Schedule:
Week 12: vs Dolphins
Week 13: vs Raiders
Week 14: @ Seahawks
Week 15: @ Rams
Week 16: vs Browns
Week 17: @ Patriots
