NFL Betting Review on the Seattle Seahawks for the 2020 Season

NFL Betting Review on the Seattle Seahawks for the 2020 Season
Fri 19th February 2021

The Seattle Seahawks had a strong 2020 season where they finished 12-4. But the club wasn’t as successful in the playoffs, as they lost in the wild card round to the Los Angeles Rams.

The Seahawks were effective on offense, scoring 28.7 points per game. The team also gave up 23.2 points per game, although the team is in a division that has a few high-end offenses.

The Seahawks produced mixed results for people who were interested in betting on them this past season, as this NFL betting listing shows.

Spread Performance

The Seahawks finished the season 8-8 against the spread. The Seahawks’ games were much closer this season than what people would have expected. The team couldn’t pull out blowouts in many of the games where they were heavy favorites.

The team missed out on a -6.5 spread against the Philadelphia Eagles, as the Seahawks won that game by six points. The team also beat the San Francisco 49ers by a field goal in the last game of the regular season, but they had a -7 spread. The Seahawks were also embarrassed by the New York Giants, as they lost a game where they were favored with a -11 line.

The Seahawks did beat the spread against the New York Jets. The Seahawks had a -16.5 line to defeat a Jets team that had yet to tally a win at the time.

The Seahawks had a -3 line against the Los Angeles Rams in the playoffs. The Rams were too dominant during their match, as the Rams took a 30-20 victory.

How They Competed With Totals

The Seattle Seahawks were not as effective on offense as people would have expected. The Seahawks went 7-9 on the total, as their games could not meet the lofty totals that some sportsbooks established.

The sportsbooks kept on putting in totals of at least fifty points. These proved to be tough to figure, including a 50.5 total against the New York Jets. The Seahawks won that game 40-3, with much of the result coming from the Jets’ ineptitude.

The Seahawks’ home game against the Arizona Cardinals ended with the Seahawks winning 28-21. That total was less than the 56.5 value the books produced for that match.

The sportsbooks figured that a game between Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray would generate more offense, but that was not the case.

The low totals came despite the Seahawks having a well-rounded offense. The team did well with Chris Carson and Russell Wilson splitting rushing duties, plus D.K. Metcalf proved himself to be one of the most exciting receivers in the sport this past season.

What to Watch in 2021

The Seattle Seahawks will have a bit of a challenge in 2021, as the team has the third-best odds to win the NFC West. The Seahawks hold a +260 line, while the Los Angeles Rams hold a +165 line. San Francisco is right ahead at +200. The Seahawks also have good odds for winning Super Bowl LVI with a +2000 line.

But there have been questions as to what Wilson’s future with the team will be like. Wilson is a trustworthy starter, but the Seahawks could consider going in a different direction if Wilson’s salary demands prove too lofty.

Shane Waldron will also need to work his hardest to replicate the same success that former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer had the past few years.

Expect the Seattle Seahawks to remain a useful team for NFL betting purposes in 2021. But the team will need to figure out how its offense is going to work and that it can adapt to a new game plan.
