The Washington Wizards (18-25, 11-9 Home) will try to slow down one of the NBA’s top scoring teams when they host the Golden State Warriors (21-22, 4-17 Away) on Monday.
Golden State is playing the second of a back-to-back after losing to the Chicago Bulls 132-118 at United Center yesterday. Klay Thompson had a standout performance in the loss with 26 points.
The Warriors are sixth in the Western Conference. Washington lost on Friday at Capital One Arena, falling to the New York Knicks 112-108. Kyle Kuzma had 40 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in defeat, carrying the team.
The Wizards are 12th in the Eastern Conference. It’s the first meeting of the season between the teams. Golden State and Washington split their matchups last season, each team winning one game. The Wizards got the win in the last meeting 123-115 at Capital One Arena in March 2022.
Corey Kispert led the Wizards with 25 points, while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 22 points. Jordan Poole had 26 points in the loss. The Warriors have been led this season by Thompson and Poole, who are averaging 20.9 and 20.7 points per game, respectively. Meanwhile, Kevon Looney is grabbing 8.4 rebounds per game, and Draymond Green is dishing 6.6 assists.
Kristaps Porzingis and Kuzma have supplied much of the Wizards’ offense, averaging 21.9 and 21.7 points per game, respectively. Porzingis also has collected 8.9 rebounds per game. Monte Morris has tallied 5.3 assists per game.
The Warriors rank as one of the highest-scoring offenses in the league, fourth-best with 117.3 points per game. The Warriors have had the advantage in the last 10 games at Capital One Arena, winning seven. Meanwhile, the Warriors are 3-5 this season when playing two days in a row and 2-5 in such games against rested opponents.
