The Washington Wizards (4-4, 2-2 Home), one of the league’s top shooting teams, play host to the Brooklyn Nets (2-6, 0-2 Away) on Friday. Brooklyn was beaten by the Chicago Bulls 108-99 at Barclays Center on Tuesday. With 32 points, nine rebounds, and six assists, Kevin Durant was a top performer in defeat.
The Nets are the 13th seed in the Eastern Conference. Washington got the win on Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center, beating the Philadelphia 76ers 121-111. Kristaps Porzingis had 30 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks to lead the team. The Wizards are eighth in the Eastern Conference.
This marks the first meeting of the season between the teams. Brooklyn and Washington split their matchups last season, each team taking two. The Wizards won the last meeting 117-103 at Barclays Center on February 17. Rui Hachimura led the Wizards with 20 points, while Ish Smith contributed 15 points, six assists, two rebounds, and one blocks.
Patty Mills had 22 points in defeat. Durant is averaging 32.5 points per game, third-highest in the league, to lead the Nets in scoring this season. Meanwhile, Nicolas Claxton is grabbing 8.8 rebounds per game, and Ben Simmons is dishing 7.3 assists. Bradley Beal (21.8 ppg) and Porzingis (21.0) have supplied much of the Wizards’ offense.
Porzingis also has collected 8.5 rebounds per game, while Beal has recorded 6.0 assists per game. The Wizards are one of the most accurate teams from the field in the NBA, ranking fourth at 48.3%. The Nets have had limited success at Capital One Arena in recent seasons, losing eight of the last 10 visits. Brooklyn has yet to taste victory on the road this season.
