It figures to be a shootout when the Chicago Bulls (8-11, 3-6 Away) are on the road to face the Utah Jazz (12-10, 6-2 Home) on Monday. Chicago dropped their last game against the Oklahoma City Thunder 123-119 in overtime at Paycom Center on Friday. With 30 points and six assists, DeMar DeRozan led the way in the losing effort. The Bulls are the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference.
Utah dropped their fourth in a row in a close one on Saturday at Footprint Center, falling to the Phoenix Suns 113-112. Jordan Clarkson recorded 22 points to lead the team in scoring in the losing effort. With 20 points, Collin Sexton also played a part.
The Jazz are the sixth seed in the Western Conference. The teams are meeting for the first time this season. Chicago and Utah split their matchups last season, each team taking one game. The Jazz won the last meeting 125-110 at Vivint Arena on March 16. Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz with 37 points.
Zach LaVine had 33 points in the losing effort. DeRozan is averaging 26.2 points per game, best in the league, to lead the Bulls in scoring this season. DeRozan also has dished 4.5 assists per game, most in the league. Meanwhile, Nikola Vucevic is grabbing 11.5 rebounds.
Lauri Markkanen and Clarkson have supplied much of the Jazz’s offense, averaging 21.7 and 19.5 points per game, respectively. Markkanen leads the league in scoring, while Clarkson is first. Markkanen also has averaged 8.4 rebounds per game, most in the NBA.
Mike Conley has tallied 7.9 assists per game. The Jazz and the Bulls are averaging 117.1 and 111.9 points per game, respectively, two of the highest-scoring teams in the NBA.
