The Sacramento Kings (14-12, 6-8 Away), one of the league’s top scoring teams, are on the road to face the Toronto Raptors (13-14, 10-3 Home) on Wednesday. Sacramento is playing on back-to-back days after being dismantled by the Philadelphia 76ers 123-103 at Wells Fargo Center yesterday.
With 22 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, Domantas Sabonis led the way in defeat. The Kings are fifth in the Western Conference. Toronto dropped their last game on Sunday at Amway Center, falling to the Orlando Magic 111-99.
Gary Trent Jr. led the team in scoring in the losing effort with 24 points. With 20 points and seven assists, Fred VanVleet also produced a strong performance. The Raptors are the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference.
It’s the first meeting of the season between the teams. Toronto won both games between the teams last season, the last of which was a 124-101 triumph at Scotiabank Arena in December 2021. Chris Boucher led the Raptors with 17 points, while Pascal Siakam added 16 points and eight rebounds.
De’Aaron Fox had 29 points in defeat. Fox is averaging 22.3 points per game, best in the NBA, to lead the Kings in scoring this season. Meanwhile, Sabonis is contributing 11.3 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game, placing him first and first in the NBA, respectively.
OG Anunoby (19.0 ppg), Trent Jr. (17.2), and VanVleet (17.0) have supplied much of the Raptors’ offense. Anunoby leads the league. VanVleet also has distributed 6.4 assists per game, most in the league.
Meanwhile, Scottie Barnes has averaged 7.0 rebounds per game. The Kings are one of the highest-scoring offenses in the NBA, ranking third with 117.4 points per game.
The Raptors have found success in the Kings’ last 10 visits to Scotiabank Arena, winning six. Meanwhile, the Kings are 1-2 when playing two days in a row this season, all of which have been at a rest disadvantage.
