The Toronto Raptors (34-36, 22-13 Home) will try to slow down one of the NBA’s top shooting teams when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves (35-36, 15-19 Away) on Saturday.
Minnesota is playing on back-to-back days after being defeated by the Chicago Bulls 139-131 in double overtime at United Center yesterday.
Mike Conley was a top performer in the losing effort with 28 points and six assists. The Timberwolves are the seventh seed in the Western Conference.
Toronto won their sixth in a row at home on Thursday at Scotiabank Arena, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 128-111. Pascal Siakam had 25 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists to lead the team. The Raptors are ninth in the Eastern Conference.
The teams are meeting for the final time this season. Minnesota will be seeking a season sweep against Toronto after winning the only previous game 128-126 at Target Center on January 19.
D’Angelo Russell led the Timberwolves with 25 points, while Kyle Anderson added 20 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Scottie Barnes had 29 points and eight rebounds in defeat.
Anthony Edwards is averaging 24.7 points per game to lead the T’Wolves in scoring this season. Meanwhile, Rudy Gobert is grabbing 11.5 rebounds per game, fourth-most in the NBA, and Russell is dishing 6.2 assists.
Siakam (24.2 ppg) has been the primary provider of the Raptors’ offense. Siakam also has posted 7.7 rebounds per game. Fred VanVleet has recorded 7.0 assists per game.
Shooting 49.1% from the field, the Timberwolves are one of the league’s most accurate field goal shooting teams (4th). The Timberwolves have not found any success at Scotiabank Arena in recent seasons, winless in the last 10 games.
Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are 7-4 this season when playing the second of a back-to-back and 6-2 in such games against opponents with at least a day of rest. The Raptors are 5-7 with a rest advantage.
