The Sacramento Kings (37-26, 19-13 Home), the league’s top scoring team, play host to the New Orleans Pelicans (31-33, 11-22 Away) on Monday. New Orleans was defeated by the Golden State Warriors 108-99 at Chase Center on Friday. CJ McCollum had a standout performance in the loss with 25 points and six rebounds. The Pelicans are the 10th seed in the Western Conference.
Sacramento fell short on Saturday at Golden 1 Center, falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves 138-134. Kevin Huerter had 29 points in defeat, leading the team. The Kings are the third seed in the Western Conference.
The teams are meeting for the last time this season. New Orleans will be pursuing a season sweep against Sacramento after triumphing in the only previous matchup 136-104 at Smoothie King Center on February 5, their third straight head-to-head victory.
Trey Murphy III led the Pelicans with 30 points. Malik Monk had 16 points in defeat. The Pels have been led this season by McCollum, who is averaging 21.1 points per game. McCollum also has dished 5.9 assists per game.
Meanwhile, Jonas Valanciunas is grabbing 9.7 rebounds. De’Aaron Fox (25.5 ppg) has supplied much of the Kings’ offense. Domantas Sabonis is collecting 12.4 rebounds, most in the NBA, and 6.9 assists per game. With 121.1 points per game, the Kings are the most explosive offense in the NBA.
