The Phoenix Suns (25-24, 18-7 Home) will be out to prolong their winning streak when they play host to the Dallas Mavericks (25-24, 8-15 Away) on Thursday.
Dallas was edged out by the Washington Wizards 127-126 at American Airlines Center on Tuesday. With 41 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists, Luka Doncic was a top performer in defeat. The Mavericks are fifth in the Western Conference.
Phoenix won their fourth in a row in dominating fashion on Tuesday at Footprint Center, beating the Charlotte Hornets 128-97. Cameron Johnson had 24 points, carrying the team. The Suns are the seventh seed in the Western Conference.
This is the last meeting of the season between the teams. Dallas and Phoenix have split their two matchups this season. The Mavericks took the last meeting, beating the Suns 130-111 at American Airlines Center in December 2022. Doncic led the Mavericks with 33 points, eight assists, and six rebounds.
Deandre Ayton had 20 points and three blocks in the loss. Doncic is averaging 33.8 points per game, best in the NBA, to lead the Mavs in scoring this season.
Doncic also is contributing 8.6 assists, fourth-most in the NBA, and 9.1 rebounds per game.Ayton and Mikal Bridges have supplied much of the Suns’ offense, averaging 17.1 and 16.4 points per game, respectively.
Ayton also has collected 9.6 rebounds per game, while Bridges has distributed 3.5 assists per game. The Mavericks have struggled in recent games at Footprint Center, losing eight of the last 10. Phoenix is seeking a fifth successive win at home this season.
