Two teams trending in opposite directions face off on Monday as the streaking Philadelphia 76ers (16-12, 11-5 Home) play host to the Toronto Raptors (13-17, 3-11 Away), who will be out to end their losing run.
Toronto is playing the second of a back-to-back after being beaten by the Golden State Warriors 126-110 at Scotiabank Arena yesterday, their fifth consecutive loss.
Pascal Siakam had a standout performance in the loss with 27 points and six assists. The Raptors are the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia won their fourth in a row on Friday at Wells Fargo Center, beating the Golden State Warriors 118-106.
Joel Embiid had 34 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists to lead the team. The 76ers are fifth in the Eastern Conference. This marks the last meeting of the season between the teams. Toronto and Philadelphia have split their two matchups this season.
The 76ers came out on top in the last meeting, beating the Raptors 112-90 at Scotiabank Arena on October 28. Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers with 44 points and eight rebounds. Siakam had 26 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists in defeat.
The Raptors have been led this season by Fred VanVleet (19.1 ppg), OG Anunoby (19.0), and Gary Trent Jr. (16.9). VanVleet leads the league in scoring.
VanVleet also has dished 6.3 assists per game, most in the NBA. Meanwhile, Scottie Barnes is grabbing 6.8 rebounds per game. Embiid has supplied much of the Sixers’ offense, averaging 33.3 points per game.
He has the top scoring average in the league. Embiid has also recorded 9.9 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game, for which he ranks first and first in the NBA, respectively.
The Raptors are 4-6 in their last 10 visits to Wells Fargo Center. Toronto is looking to avoid a sixth consecutive defeat away from Scotiabank Arena this season. Philadelphia is pursuing a seventh straight win at home this season.
