The Brooklyn Nets (40-34, 21-18 Away), one of the NBA’s top shooting teams, are on the road to face the Orlando Magic (31-43, 18-19 Home) on Sunday. Brooklyn is playing on back-to-back days after dominating the Miami Heat 129-100 at FTX Arena yesterday. With 27 points and seven assists, Mikal Bridges was the key player.
The Nets are the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference. Orlando won their third straight home game on Thursday at Amway Center, beating the New York Knicks 111-106. Paolo Banchero had 21 points to lead the team in scoring. With 16 points and six assists, Franz Wagner also impressed.
The Magic are 13th in the Eastern Conference. It’s the last meeting of the season between the teams. Brooklyn will be aiming for a season sweep against Orlando after winning the only previous meeting 109-102 at Barclays Center in November 2022. Kevin Durant led the Nets with 45 points and seven rebounds.
Bol Bol had 24 points in defeat.Nic Claxton is averaging 12.6 points per game to lead the Nets in scoring this season. Claxton also has grabbed 9.2 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, Royce O’Neale is dishing 3.6 assists.Banchero and Wagner have supplied much of the Magic’s offense, averaging 20.0 and 18.7 points per game, respectively. Banchero also has posted 6.7 rebounds per game.
Markelle Fultz has doled out 5.7 assists per game. The Nets rank as one of the league’s most accurate teams from the field, fourth-best at 49.0%. The Nets have come up short in recent visits to Amway Center, losing six of the last 10.
Meanwhile, the Nets are 6-6 when playing the second of a back-to-back this season and 3-6 with a rest disadvantage. The Magic are 5-3 with a rest advantage.
