The Orlando Magic (17-29, 11-12 Home) will try to slow down the league’s top scoring team when they host the Boston Celtics (35-12, 17-7 Away) on Monday.
Boston edged past the Toronto Raptors 106-104 at Scotiabank Arena on Saturday, their ninth straight win. Jaylen Brown was the standout player with 27 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.
The Celtics are 4.5 games ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers atop the Eastern Conference, currently sitting in first. Orlando lost in blowout fashion on Saturday at Capital One Arena, falling to the Washington Wizards 138-118. Markelle Fultz had 23 points and eight assists in the losing effort, leading the team.
The Magic are the 13th seed in the Eastern Conference.It’s the last meeting of the season between the teams. Boston will be looking to level the season series after triumphing in only one of the three previous games.
Orlando won the last showdown 95-92 at TD Garden in December 2022. Paolo Banchero led the Magic with 31 points. Brown had 24 points and 14 rebounds in defeat.
Jayson Tatum and Brown, averaging 31.2 and 26.9 points per game, respectively, are leading the Celts in scoring this season. Tatum is third in the league in scoring. Tatum also has grabbed 8.5 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, Marcus Smart is dishing 7.2 assists per game. Banchero (20.7 ppg) and Franz Wagner (20.5) have supplied much of the Magic’s offense. Banchero also has recorded 3.8 assists per game. Bol Bol has averaged 6.8 rebounds per game.
The Celtics are the top scoring offense in the league with 118.5 points per game. The Celtics have found much success in recent games at Amway Center, winning eight of the last 10.
