The Miami Heat (40-36, 15-22 Away), one of the NBA’s top scoring defenses, head to face the New York Knicks (43-33, 21-17 Home) on Wednesday.
Miami is playing on back-to-back days after losing to the Toronto Raptors 106-92 at Scotiabank Arena yesterday. Tyler Herro was the standout player in the loss with 33 points and six assists. The Heat are the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.
New York won in dominating fashion on Monday at Madison Square Garden, beating the Houston Rockets 137-115. Immanuel Quickley had 40 points and nine assists to lead the team. The Knicks are the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.
The teams are meeting for the last time this season. Miami will be looking to even the season series after triumphing in only one of the three earlier games, including a 127-120 victory at FTX Arena on Wednesday. Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 35 points and nine assists. RJ Barrett had 26 points in the loss.
The Heat have been led this season by Butler (22.8 ppg), Bam Adebayo (20.9), and Herro (20.5). Adebayo also has grabbed 9.3 rebounds per game, while Butler has dished 5.1 assists per game. Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson have supplied much of the Knicks’ offense, averaging 25.4 and 23.8 points per game, respectively.
Randle also has pulled down 10.0 rebounds per game, ninth-most in the league, while Brunson has recorded 6.2 assists per game. The Heat rank as one of the toughest scoring defenses in the league, second-best with 109.9 points per game allowed.
The Heat have had the advantage in recent visits to Madison Square Garden, winning six of the last 10. Meanwhile, the Heat are 7-5 this season when playing on consecutive nights and 4-4 with a rest disadvantage.
